So they just wear hand warmers in their pants for those games?

Miller will be this years trade deadline get for someone. He’s not the right move for the Rangers because, he’ll be too old to give 6 or 7 years to. Not because he couldn’t help the team be better.

I don’t understand this willingness to accept the real possibility of regression if the club does nothing, or brings in some mediocre player to fill the roster. Yes, Drury is in a tough spot, but do you think for one minute he’s going to have the core four, feel he didn’t do anything to build on last years success.

“Thanks boys, you guys did a great job leading the team last season, but now I’m gonna sit on my hands because there are a few guys who may or may not turn out to be ok need new deals.” So we finish with 80 points instead of over a hundred. Doesn’t work that way.

Not everyone, but enough who seem to want to accept Chytil playing 2c minutes and Kakko playing top 6 minutes, not to mention, who is Krastov? At least he’s cheap.

That’s for Drury to figure out, that’s why he gets the big bucks, and will likely be GM of the year. Unless of course the NHL writers screw him out of it, as they did to Gallant.

I like Drury a lot, but the fact is, Zibanejad and Fox combined for 6.5 million last season

this coming season they combine for 18 million, and they still have 3.4 million in dead cap space from buyouts

they are very hamstrung by their 2022-23 cap situation, acknowledging that doesn't mean you are just accepting mediocrity, it is what it is

Ok, fine. Then I don’t want to read all the whining bout how they suck, and we were so close last year.

wow such extreme thoughts

we are are a really good team, we have a Vezina winner, a Norris winner and a 50 goal scorer

hopefully they can win enough games and most importantly, be as healthy as possible going into playoffs next season

We can add someone like Bennett, Dach etc and not suck. We don’t need to swing for the fences, rather have faith in the young kids to take the next step. If Laf/Chytil/Kakko can be a reliable 2nd line we’ll be in good shape.

Panarin Zib Kravtsov
Laf Chytil Kakko
Kreider Bennett Goodrow/Cuylle
Blais Motte/Goodrow/Rydahl Reaves

If the kids take the next step that’s a better lineup than last years

Yes, we have terrific pieces, as you have mentioned. Of course, the goal is always to make the playoffs. Hopefully, my dim view of some of the talent will prove to be wrong.

Do you see Laf Kakko and Chytil having better years than last?

I think Laf could score 30 goals this year, especially if he gets and maintains top 6 minutes. Chytil could be a serviceable 3rd line center, but until he adds some upper body strength so that he can absorb the punishment other teams lay on him, they don’t think he’s gritty enough, neither do I. I would include Kakko in any deal that helps make the team better.

How do you sign a center who just put up 99 points for less than 10m

Fun for a couple years, and then when we can’t fill out a roster bc of how many 7 million+ players we have we’ll become TOR.

Miller is about next season, and chasing the Cup. Gone after 1 season. Is he worth the assets given up for one season

Isn’t the teams window the next couple of years? Shesty, Kreider, Panarin, zib, Trouba, Lindgren, Goodrow and then Miller would all be in their prime years. Have enough younger players to fill in the gap. Not saying I want to trade Kakko but if it happens and they get a legit player like Miller it’s going to be fun

To be fair any center they trade for PLD, Schefflie, Miller, Larkin, horvat just to name a few would all most likely be a one or 2 year rental. Drury really has to consider if now is the time to cash in and go for it.

Honestly the only move that would piss me off is if they brought back Strome. Anything else let’s go I am all in

No he isnt cause they arent 1 piece from the Cup. Trading KK + for a 30yo Miller who had ONE good year is such a waste.

It would be just as in the past old days, dealing kids for aging Vets!!
