Portillo is gone. If he's smart enough to want to finish a Masters degree as the story goes, he's smart enough to know he'll be 1 month from FA at that point. The Buffalo Sabres have a 0% of seeing him play as a Sabre his rookie season.

He's not getting his masters anytime soon at the Ross School of business. In September he'll only be a sophomore undergrad, so he's not even getting his bachelors for 3 more years. He's a really bright kid who enjoys college, he's developed some kind of phone app, etc. I still think he's 50/50 to sign in April

So back in the day we used to have a bunch of the old-timers (in terms of membership here, not age) pop in to say hello and share some info. I am thinking specifically of Homer, although I know there were others. Any chance we see some of them? I think some of them dropped off when their sources were no longer employed by the team.

That feels right, but using that same logic it is still surprising that Gerbe gets the kind of information that he does. I guess it shows you how much the Pegulas are involved in information - I would think that it flows from there.

Shouldn't mix athletic eligibility with academics. It will be his 3rd year there.

Dach's value is probably a second or third at this point. I'd be open to given up one of next year's seconds for him.

If the mission is to get a 1st rounder for tonight or bust. That can happen by trading a recent 1st rd pick. I heard toward the end of the season that some veterans were not loving Dach's attitude. So if things stall on the Cat front, I wouldn't be surprised if Dach goes.

Yes, you're right. He played very little in his freshman year there. Still, It's very doubtful that he stays in school until May of 2024 to get his degree, unless he's taking summer/winter break classes to graduate in 3 years. That would be pretty unheard of t Ross, as it's an intense program

The guy who said Johnson is signing at 2 is the same guy who only comes on saying, "press conference at 3pm," so paying any attention to him is wasting your time.

No offense to Gerbe, but, what has he broken before it happened? I was on with him when we called Taylor Hall to Buffalo before it happened, but, that was based on flight tracking that wasn't real. We though Hall was picked up and taken to Buffalo, but it proved erroneous in that COVID didn't allow Hall to leave Canada and he never did.

You're right, which is a shame because people are only reporting what someone else may have heard days before and might not be true anymore. Some of the guys taking a beating for things like the Nylander selection needlessly took abuse.
