This is quite the turnaround for Ottawa. They went from trading a player and a pick and part of his salary just to get rid of him, to trading for a top goal scorer in the NHL for essentially the same price. Must be nice... |

He's a 40 goal scorer who is 24 years old, he was almost a ppg player last season. Has scored 73 goals over the last two seasons (one of which is a shortened season). 73 goals in his last 134 games.
He scores another 40 this year he is getting north of $9 million - Stripes77
Guys every year will be available for picks. Next year if we look ready maybe KA makes his move |

Sure now we do, but you have to pay Dahlin, Tage, Power, Quinn, etc
Yes not all of them are going to be big money, but you have to be careful, as mentioned before if he was a center I think KA would have been all over it. - Stripes77
Figure it out in two years when that becomes an issue.
Ottawa doesn’t seem to care about it. |

And it would be well deserved. - ImThatGuy
He has already shown it, he had one down year and even taking that into account he averages 35 goals per 82 games played.
He gonna get paid

Thompson has shown up 1 season. Quinn and Power haven't played a full season yet and Dahlin hasn't reached his full potential yet. I think we'll be lucky if 2/4 are good enough for big money deals. |

I think someone’s getting bad information.
Chicago allegedly turn down an offer of multiple first round picks for the cat.
Ottawa was going to trade us number 7 overall to take their goalie.
None of this adds up. |

This isn't the NFL where there is an imaginary cap. Stay the course and when the time comes either we will have these kinds of guys in our pipeline or we can trade some of them for the next Debrincat. Collect as many assets as possible and things will be fine.

The reports were that they were anxious to get back into the first round. My guess is that they fell in love with a player.
That Seth Jones trade is going to cause them pain for years.

Ottawa has their two big money players locked up long term already. Big difference, Stutzle is the only question mark.
They have their long term guys locked up for the most part, Buffalo does not

The other main difference is Skinner's contract - they don't have that.

Interesting…no discussion on extension between Ottawa and Debrincat prior to the trade. After next season Debrincat is 1 year away from UFA status. Safe to assume this will impact term and $ on an extension moving forward. |

We've beaten this to death over the last few weeks. The future is extremely bright and it isn't worth trying to convince everyone of this.

HIs RFA qualifying offer is $9 million - Stripes77
Think they have an extension agreed to? I'm going to guess they don't, just because it's Ottawa.

Last time Skinner got 7.5mill to start the year he didn't show up... Let hope he does not repeat.... Yes I know he played 4th line for Kruger then
