One of the teams I expect to be active today is the New Jersey Devils. I’ve been told they have a lot of wheels in motion, including potentially acquiring a goalie.

I also believe there is a good chance the Chicago Blackhawks trade Alex DeBrincat today.

I thought maybe the Devils are trying to cash in on a year they don't think is sustainable from Bratt, but his previous years underlying numbers are very strong too.

So, KA's thought process should always be: If a player has a breakout year, it's likely a fluke. Therefore, that player should be traded, in order to avoid signing him to a major extension, and he winds up reverting back to his old ways.

Hearing OTT & BUF were deep into conversations about a Matt Murray trade. Sabres are on his No-trade list, and Murray — as his his contractual right — stuck to his list.

Ethan Prow could probably play his off side in that league. He looked fine in the small sample he played in the NHL with Samuelsson, but that's all we have. And he may very well hold his own there, but that's not really want from Dahlin, right? You want him to excel, and his best work may come from the left side.


Off hand, I don't know any team that has successfully made 4 LHD/RHD work in their top 4 long term.

Think you are downplaying the SHL pretty heavily. Considered to be the 3rd best league in the world, Dahlin was effectively playing his off hand at 17 years old. I don't think his style of play is limited to exclusively the left side either. Doing what he does with the puck doesn't seem to impacted on playing the right.

Either way, we aren't the coaching staff, they seem fine with him on his off hand and think he can excel. If you want to talk about whether Johnson can do it or not, whole different discussion.

And no Ethan Prow probably couldn't play his off hand in the SHL. He can barely play his proper hand in the AHL.

Why would he want to play for a fanbase like this anyway?

Nice to see some familiar faces on here. Don't get to log on as much as I want but came to discuss this upcoming offseason and give my two cents...

Goalie is the biggest need and we need to bring in someone who is not a few years away from their AARP card... I understand the excitement with Levi, but he has had one good college season and is at least 3 years away from being an NHL starter. Why Adams would want to trout out Anderson and a 2B option like Matt Murray is beyond me... If you get a guy with 1-3 years left in a trade or sign a guy like Campbell or Husso to a 3 year deal with a solid dollar amount, that will still give Levi the job when he's ready.

UPL is not the answer and even if he was, he still needs another year of seasoning. I'm hoping we shock the world and bring in a quality tender. These kids will not learn to win if they can't get consistent goaltending.

Besides that, I'd like to see us bring in two RHD defenseman preferably more stay at home forward. And another top 9 winger.

I'm a little nervous Thompson will regress and isn't a true #1 center but we shall see. Excited about Quinn and Petkera. Hope Granato gives them the appropriate ice time.

Need to see huge strides in Cozens and Krebs this year.

Mitts is my new whipping boy.

It was actually heavily overrated for a while. Most of the new equivalency models show that it's more a "distant" third. It produces more talent than the other leagues around it for sure, but that doesn't speak to the average of the league. I agree Dahlin's talent could in theory translate, I just wonder if he can do more from the left, thats all.
