Nice to see some familiar faces on here. Don't get to log on as much as I want but came to discuss this upcoming offseason and give my two cents...
Goalie is the biggest need and we need to bring in someone who is not a few years away from their AARP card... I understand the excitement with Levi, but he has had one good college season and is at least 3 years away from being an NHL starter. Why Adams would want to trout out Anderson and a 2B option like Matt Murray is beyond me... If you get a guy with 1-3 years left in a trade or sign a guy like Campbell or Husso to a 3 year deal with a solid dollar amount, that will still give Levi the job when he's ready.
UPL is not the answer and even if he was, he still needs another year of seasoning. I'm hoping we shock the world and bring in a quality tender. These kids will not learn to win if they can't get consistent goaltending.
Besides that, I'd like to see us bring in two RHD defenseman preferably more stay at home forward. And another top 9 winger.
I'm a little nervous Thompson will regress and isn't a true #1 center but we shall see. Excited about Quinn and Petkera. Hope Granato gives them the appropriate ice time.
Need to see huge strides in Cozens and Krebs this year.
Mitts is my new whipping boy. - bluengold12
Mitts needs to come hot and stay that way all year. Make or break year for him

Murray would have been an upgrade, if not an amazing one. Hell, I might be an upgrade over Anderson. If the Sabres were in on him, then they know CA is a pile of buring poop on the ice. |

Fitz had a press conference last night and was asked about Bratt and said he is not being traded and expects him to be a devil for a long time and they have submitted a long term contract and awaiting a counteroffer from bratt - dmarsden2988
Apparently, they've been waiting quite some time for the counteroffer. |

Sure, but zero points for effort if he does not actually bring someone else in. |

It was actually heavily overrated for a while. Most of the new equivalency models show that it's more a "distant" third. It produces more talent than the other leagues around it for sure, but that doesn't speak to the average of the league. I agree Dahlin's talent could in theory translate, I just wonder if he can do more from the left, thats all. - Michael Ghofrani
There's a sizeable gap between any league and the NHL, this is true. Even the KHL is a large gap. That said, there is a large gap between Dahlin at 17 and Dahlin at 24. I wouldn't worry about putting him specifically on the right, as he's done it at a high level against split the difference I guess and call it mildly good competition that no an average AHLer wouldn't be able to play his off hand in.
At the very least, with out current roster construction, it's worth a shot to try him there and see the results. Don't think it will hinder him at all. |

One of the teams I expect to be active today is the New Jersey Devils. I’ve been told they have a lot of wheels in motion, including potentially acquiring a goalie.
I also believe there is a good chance the Chicago Blackhawks trade Alex DeBrincat today. - jochfr
Devil's could be in the market for a goalie but not trading 2nd overall for one
Fitz said they expect blackwood to be healthy and back playing at a high level (last year came to camp with a heal injury and never recovered) but that bernier hasn't progressed from his injury as they hoped
Also wood is making good progress but hasn't skated

Agreed.
If I'm Levi... (frank) college. I'm coming for the starting job this year. I'd be calling KA myself and telling him if he gives me a fair shot I'll solve his goalie problems. Doesn't seem like a very Gen Z beta move though. |
|
|

So, KA's thought process should always be: If a player has a breakout year, it's likely a fluke. Therefore, that player should be traded, in order to avoid signing him to a major extension, and he winds up reverting back to his old ways. - RichardRoma

Don't know who this is. Been posting on this site for years.. Not as much last few years. I'm fed up with not supporting the team. I'm not asking to blow it up, just get a damn good goalie for a change

Yeah Im not worried about it ruining him or even johnson for that matter, I just don't think it's worth committing to long term. Even with all the new coaching philosophies in the league and the analytics, successful teams still commit to the L/R model on D. That's why I'd be curious about the domino effect, because I'd be surprised if they were okay with that. |

I'll be losing my poop x2 if they don't, considering they actually went through the effort to find someone. They will.

Anderson+ Murray once again does not say “we’re trying to win a lot of hockey games”.
Would we have gotten a nice asset, probably, and that’s good. But I want them to try and win as much as possible starting now |
|

Hearing OTT & BUF were deep into conversations about a Matt Murray trade. Sabres are on his No-trade list, and Murray — as his his contractual right — stuck to his list. - Powerslave
Could be a blessing in disguise if they're forced to do better now. Or it's Greiss time |

It is. Bad goalie doesn't want opportunity to start. Hope he gets (frank)in' marooned. |

Murray was actually pretty good after he was recalled. Better numbers than Jack Campbell. |

that sample size though. I can find a good Craig Anderson sample size.

Who are your top 3 goalie trade targets and what are you willing to trade for each? Disregard if the other team would even be willing to accept the offer.
I would give Vanacek a chance tbh. Considering he's available. |

From last season? I mean Anderson only played 31, and he was good in like 7 of them. Just seemed a lot better because Tokarski was mostly a letterkenny extra. |
