Let's not pretend Anderson was signing anywhere else... He's not exactly a hot commodity... And what does it tell you that it's so hard to sign even marginally decent players to come here???
- bluengold12

That the perception of Buffalo is really bad currently.

It may be worse than we all like to beleive.

The Eichel situation may have played a factor in that. (Just thinking out loud)

IF HE HAS CONTROL AND ITS A BIG IF

40 mil in cap space
all these draft picks, prospects and young players would make 99 percent of the gm's drooling

they have no desire to improve the team for the next 12 months

wasting another year of dahlin and tuch and skinner

- homiedclown

So lets go out and sign Malkin for 6 years and figure it out later. Is that how it works?

Again, Adams showed that he is out there swinging.

Sorry,
but I’m not taking your ASSUMPTIONS as facts

And it’s also arguable (to begin with) that using assets to make the team better in the short term is actually what’s best for the team

Sorry Homie…..

Adams plan >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Homie’s plan

It was a good swing. He needs to take another swing in the next week and get something real between the pipes or next season could go sideways by Halloween.

That would be inexcusable imo.

who the hell said get malkin for 6 years?

pretty sure everyone that wanted him said overpay on a 2 year deal while we have cap space instead of bishoping and murraying your way to reach the floor

It shows that Adams KNEW it would be hard to get a goalie to come here
*just like it was last year*

So he was SMART, and signed Anderson- Just in case- while he went about looking for other potential goalies

Maybe u guys can all calm down now that you’ve seen proof Adams isn’t trying to come back with an Anderson/Tokarski tandem

- jdfitz77

That is not the point, it's Adams job to go out and make this team better. He tried, and I am glad he did. The point is that the Sabres are such a sh!t show that a dump wouldn't waive to come here. It's embarrassing

Instant gratification? You will be praising when the next GM ships off a disgruntled Dahlin and Cozens and Krebs leave for free agency because they want to win and we can get excited about the slew of prospects in the 2025 NHL draft while we move onto year 15 of a playoff drought in a league that 50% of the conferences makes the playoffs....

This is the worst narrative. Players say no to trades all of the time. Maybe he loves Ottawa and has family there. Maybe his wife doesn't want to move. I saw one report that said he refused to go to any teams not on his list - are the fans in the other cities female dogging?

I think our play over the last third of the season gives us a pretty good idea of what we have. And that's with mediocre goaltending. Not all of the kids will pan out but if you through enough assets at it you're going to be in the conversation. Our pipeline was said to be 12 - 15 players deep according to Pronman and that's before the draft. I am fine seeing how it pans out and I don't need a second $9 million dollar winger so that I can get myself into a mess later. If the guy was signed for many years for less money I would have gladly taken him on. That's the main reason that he didn't get a bigger return - his salary is going to be prohibitive.
- Slump Buster

Only going by the last third of the season feels like it could very well be a trap.

Ottawa was fooled by that 2 seasons ago.

If you want to wait through the entirety of the upcoming season to make the long term determination, I understand that.

You're the one that wants him really bad. If you want a guy like that you're going to have to throw term and cash at him for the privilege of figuring it out later when he is old and broken down.

Players know which teams win and which don't... For the longest time Florida was on everyone's no trade list even though they play in Miami. It's not the weather, it's not the city, it's the organization... And also, players are almost always going to side with fellow players. I'm glad Eichel is gone, he was a cancer to the locker room, but players noticed how the Sabres handled his surgery. It was not a good look for a team that all ready had to overcome being the longest drought in hockey.

Is it always raining where you live? The players seemed to be over the moon last year. You'd have a point if we were starting with a superstar and then trying to fill in around him.

Those dudes are what, 20,21? What have any of them do in the NHL yet? Very little, trading picks for 9 million dollar wingers this draft when we are a bottom feeding team I would want Adam’s fired.
