They've been naive and impatient with both teams. If they don't have decent attendance this season, the pressure will ramp up quickly.

Trade for Pat Kane, get a goalie, and enjoy 41 sellouts enroute to the playoffs.

He's my choice too, although only 50/50 he lasts to 9. Arguably the best offensive player in the draft. if I'm KA, I know how tall his Father is, how tall his Mother is and how tall any of his older siblings (if any) are cuz I'm hoping he grows 2 or 3 inches in the next 2 years. I know 5'9" can work in the NHL but 6'0" works even better.

The only way I don't take him at 9 is if Nemec or Jiricek fall to 9, they're better players

- turbo044

There are other forwards in that range, but I’d really prefer a center. Got a lotta wingers on the way up, but almost nothing down the middle. Also need to restock the blue line prospects, there’s almost nothing there. But I’d prefer to address that problem with 28, the 2nd, or later picks.

dahlin already makes decent money on the cap

power could be the next erik johnson or really good, an issue 2 years from now

tage is the wild card

doesn't change we have 40 mil in cap space today

and 10 mil coming off the books in 12 months in okposo , girgens, and anderson

if there was ever a time to jump start a rebuild, it's now with this 40/50 mil cap space

- homiedclown

Listen to gerbe and 89 since you lost your source.

The Sabres aren’t spending to the cap unless it’s resigning their own guys

Think about how the bills have done it with beane

Depends on a lot of variables

Who is the goalie playing these games? How is this team losing? Do they look lost? Did everyone revert back to Ralph days?

If you tell me they are drafting in the top 10 again next year because Anderson had to play 50 games, UPL's body fell apart again, and they had to play Aaron Dell again then I would assume they lost every game 6-4.

- Stripes77

That's not any better when it's completely obvious that is the outcome if they keep heading down this path.

Just do the thing where you get a real goalie.

I know, I know. They still have FA

I think based on rep he would cost so much more, which is the problem. I have no problem with them paying market value for him, but thats not what's going to happen.
- Michael Ghofrani

DeBrincat at 24 went for a dirst, 2nd and third

the reason for low return is his cap hit

I doubt a 33 year old Kane with 1 year left at 10.5 would get much more then pick 28 if he was moved tonight

he would get more if hawks waited til deadline to move him though

get him now for pick 28

why wait and use that pick on the next danny paille

worst case, he won't sign an extension and we can move him at deadline for a late first in a better draft class

- homiedclown

Kane for 28. Find a tendy…

I know. I know. It’ll never happen.

I guess bring me Hill or Greiss and I have to be happy…

I still don’t think looking for an average goalie is asking too much. Just gotta find one that wants to be here…

you have 40 mil in cap space

you can throw them a bone with an addition or 2 instead of pissing away another year of dahlin, tuch, skinner, etc

and if it's another lottery year and dahlin does not want to sign an extension, remember this off season

Throw Adin Hill and Jake Allen in there.

Not saying they're great options, but they're options.

- Hank Balling

Adin Hill should not be an option as a starter
I think he’s played over 20 games a in a season once- and last year he got less than 30games (that was his most ever played)

Not a guy to depend on as the starter

92 points, american hero and all that jazz. he'll go for way more than what someone at his age and who cant play defense should go for.

I absolutely want to see a real upgrade in net. If at the least Adams does that and wants to see how the team looks during the season with a real NHL goalie, I would be okay with that.

This team is far from a finished product, I want to see what a healthy Quinn looks like in Buffalo, if Mitts can stay healthy, what Power looks like for a full season. Is JJ ready to make the jump, is Tage a legit scoring threat in the NHL for more than one season.

There are a ton of questions this team can answer. The only real answer we know is they don't have a real NHL goalie on their roster. Go get one.

So a team who lost because of goaltending this year is not good enough to acquire talent but a team that loses because of goaltending next year is good enough to acquire talent

DeBrincat would have been the best player on the Sabres by a wide margin. Not worth a 1st 2nd and 3rd. Wow.

His contract is meh. 3 more years $5 million per year.

Boston doesn’t really have much in the terms of picks either.

Give me a good prospect and Ullmark at $2 million retained for say pick 41 and I would listen. But it would have to be a prospect that makes sense.

In other words I don’t see it happening.

- Stripes77

Fair
But i don’t think we’d even have to give up 41

Boston would just like the Cap space imo

I love how people assume

krebs
cozens
casey
quinn
peterka
and whoever we pick tonight are going to get paid

none have done anything more then Vinny Hinostroza over the last 2 years in the nhl at this point

of course adams will overpay them all because they like to be here and we drafted them

Agreed, completely. I'd be shocked if we didn't get one in the next 2 weeks. Until then... I don't see the need to panic.
