Yet you somehow think we’ll get Patrick Kane for less than that?
- ImThatGuy

You just ignoring the rest of my points (giving up zero assets for him over Cat, drafting three guys in 1st who can fill in roster spots on rookie contracts)

😂😂

If your argument is Buffalo is such a s******* even though we have more money than any team in the NHL DeBrincat wouldn't sign with us... Well that's the best argument I've heard for that position.
- lacaprup

I mean Gaudreau is walking to UFA and Calgary has the money to resign him.

If I had an opportunity to choose my next destination and get a huge pay day, I would too.

If an extension came with Debrincant and it was a sign and trade, sure I’m all for it. As it stands now, Debrincant will take his $9M qualifying offer next offseason and walk right into UFA the following year.

Could he resign in Ottawa ? Sure he could. Huge risk though to give up a top 10 pick in order to find that out though

I take 10 years of Savoie over 2 years of Debrincant any day of the week.

That's an absolute nonsense position put forward by Kevin Adams through the Buffalo media. The Buffalo savers have more cap space than any team in the NHL. It has never been hard to drop salary for any good team in sports history when they need to. Furthermore, no one has ever showed any numbers indicating it would be hard to stay under the cap ceiling with another great player on the roster in 3 years.

To believe this stupid argument you have to tell me 3 years from now at age 27 a multi time 40 goal scorer would be unmovable, Or that we would even want to move him.

- lacaprup

Wingers are available EVERY year via trade or free agency. In the last year, Sam, Buch, Cat, Fiala. There will be another guy next year if we want to do that. It’s like you act like rosters freeze forever after yesterday 😂😂

The only people that worry about cap trouble are fans.

How long has Tampa Bay Been in cap trouble how long has Pittsburg been in cap trouble how long is Las Vegas been in cap trouble
how long has Toronto been in cap trouble

- ImThatGuy

I totally disagree here. TB has done such a great job drafting, they get away with it. Pittsburg has Crosby and Malkin and Letang to help them through that.
Las Vegas is in horrible trouble and might not make playoffs this year either. Toronto, who wants to be them? They are a destination and can’t get out of the first round.

I wanted Cat and I think we could have gotten both him and Savoie. I'm also not going to sit here and pout about it. There will be more opportunities.

Yet buffalo hasn't made the playoffs in 11 years and "Are in great shape"
Okay draft last night from everything ive read. They have a great prospect pool, but in terms of success in the next 3-5 years it means absolutely zero.

I like the savoie and kulich pick

I think they reached on ostlund while passing on kemell and gaucher

it seems they had a plan to grab 3 centers last night, no matter what

Can’t wait till gerbe comes back from Montreal.

I want to know who Adams tried to trade up for.

If we got pick 7. We still miss out on cutter

My position is always clear: playoffs are the only non failure outcome for the Sabres next season. KA has done exactly zero to facilitate that while watching a division rival add a player better than anyone in our organization today. And, he's a player for the now and the future. All of you dolts act like he still wont be scoring 40 at age 27.

12th in a row coming. Whoopie. CA will play his sub .900 goalie again. Huzzah.

Again, I'll be his biggest fan when he snaps up an NHL goalie with an above .900 save % in recent years or drops a max offer on Johnny Hockey or grabs Kadri or someone who makes the Buffalo Sabres better than we were last season when we failed to make the playoffs for the 11th time in a row in a league where half the teams make it every season.

I've never lost 11 coin tosses in a row. Have you? Soon to be twelve.

Again, what does 11 years ago have to do with our current roster other than your feelings?[/img]

Odds are Savoie doesn’t end up being as good of a hockey player Debrincant is.

If we want to ignore the fact that we have 5+ years of team control though of Savoie and 2 years of Debrincant then have at it

My goal is not to make the playoffs and then fizzle out due to cap space. I want to make the playoffs and have cap room and ability to improve from prospects each year after to compete for the cup. Maybe we have different goals in mind?

Well, if Savoie is great in 4 years, why would we pay him? We'll be at 15 years consecutive of no playoffs, still have no goalie, and only have 65 million in cap space to the ceiling then. We'll have Teddy Thefuture - a 5'9" skilled center who we just drafted - getting ready for his first NCAA year. He'll need money in 2030 that has to be kept available now.

What? By you? Do you think he is doing things the owner does not want? Very weird take.
