The deal between Ottawa and Buffalo would have included the Sens retaining salary and Buffalo flipping the 16th pick for the 7th.

The group as a whole (him plus Karmanos, Ventura and Galamini) is solid. I think the only real concerns, justified or not, are ownership and reputation, the latter of which potentially just nixed the smarts of the group.

That trade was better than I expected him to get, I'll give him that... But it still would give us bottom 3 goaltending tandem in the NHL... I give him credit for potentially getting us up 9 spots, but hopefully we get a better number 1 goalie and maybe we can actually contend for the playoffs.

Not sure its the whole reason, but a lot of people think his relationship with the goalie coach played a part in him saying no.

Very unfortunate, cause I'd just fire Bales to make it happen, but then that doesn't really help your rep long term does it.

Wonder if he'd be amenable to Arizona. Buffalo could be the middle man, retain salary in addition to the salary retained by ott and give Arizona a taste (4th rounder?)
