It’s why it’s absolutely silly to put some arbitrary 2 year maximum number on term for a goalie.

I really hope goaltending doesn’t sink this team again.

Because next years free agency and trade market will go the same way with a bunch of players telling us no thank you

- sbroads24

Well Gibson is signed for 5 more years, so that puts a damper on the "2 year contract narrative" crowd.

Trying is nice, but results are all that matters.

Two goalies with NTCs say no and it's the GM's fault.

The guy is (frank)ing trying, ffs. This crap that he doesn't want guys with term is just that. Crap.

Did Pilut resign
- Buff36

Doesn't look like it. I looked him up earlier. If he does sign, he's not waiver exempt and he'd be UFA after the season.

Not really a great situation, since I can't imagine they are talking multi-year.

Google says that the arranged marriage divorce rate is 4% compared to a 40% average so...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- Hank Balling

Probably because divorce isn't allowed or is punishable by extreme measures...on those who arrange marriages

Appreciate the effort but they have to get something respectable past the goal line (pardon the awful pun).

Would have loved Gibson personally so it's nice to hear they tried

My final thoughts on the draft;

Savoie, Kulich, Neuchev, Lindgren we’re all home runs in my eyes and steals where we got them.

Ostlund was a target I was hoping for at 28, I felt 16 was a tad bit high. At the same time, after Geekie went he was probably the top rated Center left on the board and the premium on that position always gets over drafted.

Only thing keeping me from giving them an A+ was the moronic decision to take a goalie at 41 with the talent available on the board.

Final Grade: A-

I mean something that happened 13 years ago...

He's married, has a kid now, his parents still live in Buffalo.

One of his sisters got married a few years ago, you'd think they'd have children soon, and anyone who grew up in South Buffalo knows your first best friend is one of your cousins.

Not saying it's gonna happen but I am not going to say it won't happen.

There were some nice defensemen available at 41 that I liked. And a couple forwards too.

The defenseman Anaheim drafted the next spot right after the Sabres would've been nice.

I really wish I could know if a buyout was ever an option to get Murray to waive. Seems like an obvious fix

Would somebody pay Murray at least the $5M he'd lose in a buyout on a new contract?

That’s why I’m curious. I think that’s part of the hold up. He’d lose out on quite a bit

I was told the perception of Buffalo has changed because of two months of good hockey.

No, you were told that people turn down trades all of the time. I know it is difficult to keep up with all of the rain clouds falling you around - please try harder.

Remember when I constantly roasted Botterill for "trades are hard"? I feel like this goaltending situation is my punishment
- Hank Balling

It’s not a video game

Trades ARE hard

And there aren’t a lot of reasons for players to want to come here right now
