Riveting, you truly have the gift of prose. I cant tell the difference between you and Hemmingway - THE BLACK HAND

After reading Bill’s scouting report and then watching the draft unfold I wanted Cutter the most. I was really happy with the pick. Bleacher Report called it a bad pick. I think they were too harsh. |

Cutter Gauthier is a really good prospect and should be a contributor in Philadelphia for years to come. But I'm not convinced he'll be a game-breaking talent in the NHL, and the Flyers left a lot of talent on the board here.

Did you read the rest of it? Actually compliments him the rest of the way. Guy who goes into the boards, very solid vertical game with a great fast break, and has a slick, sniper shot.
The latter especially makes me happy, because where have our snipers been? Who have they been, for that matter?
Bleacher Report gives a C-, but then lauds him. Meanwhile The Sporting News hands out an A-
We’ll see. Who knows? We’ve got at least a year to speculate before he’s a pro, and a couple more before we know what we have |

Yeah, I guess my point is that the Flyers just aren't in the position to make the JG signing worthwhile. I mean, if one wanted to be totally positive you could make a case. That would involve Coots and Ellis coming back healthy(probably unlikely), and a few of the young guys stepping up their games along with Hart becoming the world class goalie that we expected(I know the defense has been awful the past couple of seasons). It all seems like a longshot and not worth the large AAV that signing JG will require. - Phillywhiteout
well said, the Flyers need to free cap space, not spend it at this point in time. The only caveat would be if JG wanted to really play for the Flyers so much that he would sign a team friendly deal, then I think if you are Fletcher you have to do it. But if this was the case, I would think Fletcher needs to start clearing cap space now. |

Was not excited initially about this pick, would have liked to see the Flyers go for more top-end talent. However I'll withhold judgement until I see how he does at BC next season. I guess if Gauthier turns out to be the next Chris Kreider, who I have seen him compared to, I won't complain.
He’s so good defensively, using his body well along the boards and in corners to win puck battles and move up ice. Offensively, he’s incredibly efficient. The puck is on his stick and off his stick in transition, but he also recognizes when he has pockets of space to initiate offense himself. Gauthier is unafraid to drive the puck to the net and protects the puck nicely when he chooses to do so. -EliteProspects 2022 NHL Draft Guide
Sounds like he could be ready for the NHL sooner rather than later. He certainly has the size and is a strong puck possession player already. I love that Cutter stated his plan is to play 1 year at BC and then be ready for the Flyers the next season! You usually don't hear that type of confidence from a kid in his first interview. |

Day one of the draft: Aggressive retool still seems to be a big nothing burger. Not complaining about the pick at 5, but the lack of any aggressive moves or even rumors of attempted moves reaffirms my current lack of faith in this management group. Please, Comcast Flyers, prove me wrong. Montreal was aggressive. Chicago was aggressive and has (from what I heard on the draft telecast) publicly announced a 5 year rebuild. Flyers stand pat, have no picks currently in the second round, have heard or read no rumors about any aggressive moves (other than Ek talking about JG and Blake Wheeler?????). Again, I am hopeful the Comcast Flyers prove me wrong and they do something soon. We are still weak down the middle with a bad cap hit, have the exact same defense, and are down one prospective Russian goalie, and our wingers are… we’ll also the same. Ok. Morning vent done. Thanks for listening/reading my rant. Good morning fellow Flyers fans! |

Cutter Gauthier at #5 was a mistake. He's a decent prospect but not that early in the draft. There were still more dynamic prospects on the board. Hopefully we end up with a Pierre-Luc Dubois and not a Julien Gauthier.

What would a team friendly deal be for Gaudreau for the Flyers? 9M a year? That would sway your opinion?

Chicago wasn't aggressive. They traded off two young players. Montreal gave up the 13th pick and the 66th pick in the draft for Kirby Dach. Would you have preferred the Flyers to do something like that versus using their first round pick? I sure wouldn't.
Were just entering the time when teams will ramp up and reveal their plans. Trades, free agency, etc. Have a little patience. I'm quite sure that Fletcher will provide plenty of fodder to be open to criticism. |

Morning flyers fans how we doing today?
Love what Chicago did, despite the low return on ADB. He should have waited imo. Though clearly they have q plan and process in place. They will get a top pick next year and be back in business. All while the flyers chug along in irrelevancy.
Also like what Arizona is doing. Want to watch them over the next few years. See if Armstrong can actually add NHL talent not just picks.
One concern is the flyers draft a kid who doesn't have a set positon. What could go wrong.....Hopefully the BC development team can figure out where he is best situated. |

Team friendly deal lol....That will be JG making sure the flyers waste a pick for his rights so he can milk them for an extra year.

all those meaningless wins mean something right? - 2Real
Last game of the season, Kraken up 3-1 going into the 3rd, realized the meaningless win would allow the flyers to pass them in the draft, give up 3 goals in the 1st nine minutes, plays Rocky theme song.
Now there's a team with a plan and flawless execution.

Got to think Kane is going to request a trade. One year left on his deal makes him easier to deal. That team will be horrible next year.

Yes as I think that was part of the Hawks logic. Force him to want out along with Toews.

Kane has a NMC. Even if Chicago retains salary, there aren't a lot of true contending teams that can take him on now. Might get better value at the trade deadline. Chicago also has to meet the cap floor. |

Good GM's will find room for a player of that caliber.
