If he goes on LTIR without an insured contract and gets paid real dollars then that money comes out of player revenue share which means higher escrow and once again less money for other players. While I'm cool with signing Rackell, I'd probably prefer to go top heavy and try to get Trochek. Slide Malkin to the wing. I'd still be looking at bringing back Heinen and I'd even see if Kessel wants a one year deal for $1-2M to try for one more with this group?

Personally, I think nobody has any clue. Hextall seemed to keep this all under wraps pretty well. There were so many conflicting reports with Letang until we actually heard information from Hextall's mouth yesterday.

While I'm antsy and a bit nervous, I still feel confident Geno gets done shortly.

In some ways I think they have no idea but maybe this is all part of a master plan...?

The Jones trade made absolutely no sense and they paid a fortune. I actually think they are going to try to turn things around quick. They have a lot of cap space this year and a TON next year. I could see them being a big player in free agency, maybe less so this year and more so for next year when there are even more huge names available.

They weren't going to be competitive this year with or without Debrincat. Question is, do they tank this year to try to get Bedard or do they try to set themselves up for a playoff run this year? They will get a really nice prospect at #7 or since they have no goalie they could trade us for Jarry...
