My only concern is getting Debrinicat to sign long term. Of course, that's a problem for down ther oad, and him being an RFA is a key difference to previous moves.
For that to happen, the Sens would most likely need to portray themselves as a playoff team. Are they good enough right now to make the playoffs? They'd need to bump one of the current eight teams to get in. - david22
I think that is exactly right. My formula remains the same. Win the seasons series agains the Leafs and Montreal and you will make the playoffs.

This is the problem when you live with the Prince of Darkness. When the light finally breaks through it only hurts your eyes.
Lots of folks believed in the rebuild. You did not. Still a long way to go but our journey seems lighter.

Washington Boston Pittsburgh
If any of the teams that made it this year are to falter, it would be one of these three, in my opinon.
The other five are too good. |

i can see Boston regressing, if leafs do not get a good G, Sens can end up ahead of them. |

Didn't seem overjoyed which is understandable. Looked pretty bummed as a matter of fact. Almost like he was about to cry.
Interesting that he thinks Stutzle is not afraid to mix it up in the corners and will be making plays out of the corners, presumably to him. Wonder what Stutzle will make of that?
Can't play DEbrincat with Tkachuk and Norris because Batherson is the playmaker on that line and DeBrincat is not a go mix it up in the corners kind of guy so tag, Stutzle, you're it. You might want to grow a couple of inches and add 20 or 30 pounds this summer and you might want to temper any contract aspirations you may have entertained.
Also will be interesting to see who gets booted off the first PP unit. Tkachuk will want to stay there along with his buddy, Norris, so that leaves either Batherson or Stutzle. I'm guessing it will be Stutzle. Numbers go down so less money offered and surprise, surprise, surprise, you are no longer the shining bright light of the future. You may need to be moved in a package to find someone who can play with DeBrincat. Just kidding. DeBrincat won't be staying but after the treatment you're about to receive I don't think you'll want to stay either.
Otherwise seems like a good draft. Big and mobile is the ticket. - Whatisavailable
100% I couldn't have said it better. Norris is also very timid. I'm curious see what happens if the opposing teams take them seriously and bring their "A" game. |

I wish you would stop this condescending bullpoop.

Honestly, it's pointless to over-react to a player reaction, especially one this close to a major trade. DeBrincat's entire career has been spent playing in Chicago with guys like Kane & Toews, and they've just gone into 100% full tailspin mode less than a year after the supposed 'retool' of the Seth Jones trade. Plus, he's been dealing with trade speculation all week involving any number of teams, and has just found out that he's not just gone to a new team, but will also need to move to a different country within the next 2 months. Pretty sure we can give him a break if he hasn't quite fully processed everything to the point where's he's not still a bit emotional about having to leave the only NHL city he's ever know. |

Surprised to see rumour suggesting Sens are chasing goaltender Darcy Kuemper. I would be more than happy with Forsberg until one of the kids breaks through. Plus they need to move Murray. |

Not surprise, we try hard to acquire him before Murray |

ship forsberg to EDM or TOR and sign Kuemper, G market is hot right now, so many teams need #1 and backups |

Adrian Dater says Ottawa is interested in Darcy Kuemper, who is the top free agent goaltender.
He adds that it would make sense for Colorado to move defenseman Sam Girard to clear cap space. Undersized quick defender signed for the next five years at $5M. Has played both sides.

I'd be happy if he signed an Austin Matthews type deal that walks him into FA. 3 to 5 years at 8 to 9 million.
Heck I'd be happy if he plays really well and allows Timmy to blossom and makes the Sens playoffs adjacent. If he gets anything more than 25 goals this is a hard win for me. And all the experts seem to think this is a win for the sens.
And I'd also be happy I'd the sens took the shot and it doesnt work and flip him for the same or more/equal than what he got him for in 1 to 2 years.

Er...why? So we can force someone to take Murray because we have all the goalies? Like all of them? |

I wouldn't say sucks, but he seems to be very inconsistent. Not sure the best fit for this team and its fledging D, and something we've seen too many times on this team. |

Hey everyone, I am back.....1.5 days of no internet and tv.....just awful....so I couldn't be on here at all with all of you! Great discussion and thanks to all of you who held down the fort yesterday in the comment section.....I wont name all of you as I am sure I would forget someone but the crew.....you all know who you are. Always the best knowledgable and thought out replies in here for any Sens board, all the other boards are quick 8 word replies....whereas all of you fans put huge time and thoughts into your replies....much thanks!! |

Just like the dumb Anderson or Dvorak rumours that started....it was some fool on Twitter trying to sound like they know something....this time that person who started it....should have thought, why would Ottawa sign a 4th goalie?! Just ignore all the crap out there folks...had a very good friend from TSN tell me earlier in the week....there is so much garbage out there about rumours and stuff.....that it's silly season and to ignore most of it!

If PD can improve any position he has to do it, but Murray needs to be done first before he can even begin to look at Kuemper!

If Pitt re-signs Malkin, I don't see them regressing but like many have said Boston could but if they were to get Kreji back on a super cheap deal and sign Colin White....with Bergeron returning....who knows....they have some major players out to start the year due to surgery.

Classy move by Pinto to welcome DeBrincat like that, including making the jersey number available. It will be interesting to see if the value of the team culture pays off, in terms of the leadership from other prominent American players like Tkachuk, Norris, Pinto, Sanderson, etc. Hard to say if DeBrincat will be as excited about playing in a smaller market like Ottawa long-term after being in Chicago for 5 years, but some team bonding and early chemistry could make a big difference in that equation. - khawk
Agreed!

The actual remaining salary payable to Patrick Kane is $2.9m. His cap hit is $10.5m.
Kane would be a very good fit for the Sens. - spatso
Kane has a NMC though.
