I’m tying it into the fact that the Sens need to focus on other positions before loading up all their cap on a bunch of forwards.
Didn’t say our top guys need to be dealt.
I forget we have children on this board and things need to be broken down in much simpler terms. - Trilla

Absolutely. It would be dumb not to if he were available. The buzz you would generate of having the Tkachuk ‘s playing together would be awesome.
At what cost though? The Sens are at a point where they’re giving big money to guys who haven’t even taken us to a wild card position. The last thing you wanna do is be stuck with a bunch of 7-10m dollar players without having anything to show for it.

Last I heard Matthew Tkachuk was a forward and according to capfriendly we only have two guys making over 7 million right now and in the future it will likely be Norris, Stutzle and Sanderson with DeBrincat just added. So which bunch of guys do you not want to be stuck with?
Little kids in the candy store. Look over there because that guys available so grab him. Oh look there's another guy so grab him and over there is another guy and another guy so grab them too.
Any bozo can improve the team in the short term because the Sens have picks and prospects and cap space. I prefer a management style that will create a perennial serious contender even if I have to wait a couple of years for the team to mature a bit while adding a piece or two here or there to fill in the weak spots; and I sure as hell would not be dismantling the bottom six in the meantime. |

A sorely needed addition to the #Sens development team is someone to work with the defencemen.
That changes Monday when dev. camp opens.
A good source tells me Wade Redden will hit the ice with the prospects to work with the likes of Jake Sanderson and the '21 and '22 draft picks |

What is wild about the Redden hiring is that he gave both speeches for Alfie's and Chris Phillips retirement ceremonies! |

Well said my friend! PD thinks he can change the narrative about himself in a few weeks.....problem is the real smart fans know....buyouts or retaining salary in trades....is cleaning up his many messes over the last 5 seasons....all of that money.....ugh.....could be going into the UFA period starting on Wednesday instead of out the door to make mistakes go away.

What’s this, great news above great news this off season. Anna and Olivia don’t want to miss the opportunity to make good impression |

So there's definitely a 3rd team involved if Ottawa moves Murray to Toronto....AZ and Buffalo are the teams that can help the Leafs take on some of Murray's contract too. Story is developing late tonight. |

Watch for Buffalo or Arizona to help Toronto retain some of Murray's salary if the Leafs do acquire him from Ottawa. If this occurs, PD is trying to get Zaitsev involved in the deal to AZ. Stay tuned.....a lot will happen over the next 48 hours here |

Kevin do you know between Chychrun, Marino, Weegar will be a Sens
Do you think the team have a handshake deal with Giroux. I see the other day a picture of Claude son with a Sens puck in hand but was removed couple hours after |

As I posted in my blog, I truly think they sign Giroux, but a lot can happen between now and Wednesday. It could depend on what PD does the next 48 hours with other player transactions.
As for the D, I know Zito has called PD....but who knows how serious Ottawa is....Marino makes sense due to Ryan Bowness being hired, if he thinks he would be a good fit....I know 100% for a fact....Ottawa has had talks with AZ for awhile now...if anyone follows me on Twitter or the friends that know me that read the blog or read my tweets, they know some of my best sources on the west coast have given me great info before. Ideally I think PD would like Chychrun but the price is steep.
Hope that helps.
As for the Girouz puck thing...sometimes people read into things....kids watch things n TV that are shown in the background of an Instagram post and people jump to conclusions.....so hard to tell if it means anything.

with Stu, pinto, zub and Cat to re-sign next year, no money for Matthew - Mithos
If they went after Matthew, they wouldn't be signing Giroux possibly or going after a top 4 D. Lets get our priorities straight, this team needs to stop goals...they wont have a problem scoring them!

it adds to the leafs desperation, Kuemper going to WSH take one more G off the market for trade and UFA, i also think Cambell might already have a destination in mind which is why leafs looking hard elsewhere
i also find it funny and curious that none of the G want to play in TOR - Mithos
Exactly, it's awesome that these goalies are dodging TO like the plague.....Fleury ran lol....now Campbell.....Kuemper doesn't want to be in a crazy Canadian market, he will get his retirement contract in Washington lol

Why is Dorion working so hard to try and move player contracts without taking salary back?
It would appear the Sens are hoping to set up at around $61m in player salaries heading into UFA offer day. This would put player salaries $14m below the Sens self imposed cap of $75.0m. So, any salary in the form of a hold back from a trade or a player contract from a trade or new salary from a UFA signing would need to be taken directly off the $14m.
The calculation assumes moving through trade Murray, Zaitsev, Brannstrom and Connor Brown without any take-back of salary. Allows for high resigning costs for Norris ($8m), Formenton ($4m) and Joseph ($2m). Does not change the cost of Hamonic ($3.0m) and Del Zotto ($2.0) who have one more year on the cap. Also includes $3.0 for dead cap space to cover ongoing costs of buying out Bobby Ryan, Dion Phaneuf and Colin White. |

I still have a bias towards wanting the Sens to stay big and add more physical presence in their top 6 forwards. Before DiBrincat my favourites were Matthew Tkachuk, Pierre Luc Dubois and Evander Kane. Love the new 12. I also think Pinto is a hidden jewell and should play top 6 for the Sens
Would anyone risk believing that Pinto is ready to centre the second line behind a first line centred by Stutzle?
Assuming he would sign a long term deal, would you offer up Norris in a trade for Matthew or Dubois? This kind of deal would not limit the Sens in still being able to make a UFA offer to Giroux and do a deal for a top 4 Dman (Chychrun). |

Do you wanna Piss off Brady trading his best friend just to get Dubois?
Mathew Tkachuk is a pipe dream trust me I would love both Tkachuk but only time that is happening is down the road with St Louis Blues lol

Wow another one who thinks Sanderson is a $7million dollar guy and he hasn’t even played an NHL game yet 😂🤷♂️🤦♂️
I really do believe Debrincat will be gone in 2yrs he is just here to get this team over the next hump into the playoffs and the winning circle then PD will trade him for a 25g 2nd line LW a 1st/2nd and a really good D prospect 😂😂😂🤷♂️ |

That's what Chicago was officially asking for: a young player, a high pick and a top prospect and you make fun of me because I suggest that Sanderson may turn out to be a top pairing D.
Anyway if DeBrincat is here in 2 years he better be signed for term or he's walking for nothing. I just can't wait to see what's about to happen to the Sens' salary structure because of this trade. |

Ya....Sanderson hasn't played a game in the NHL and his hand is in tatters he can't even shoot the puck at dev camp.
Relax on having to pay him anything.

I agree, at this time our offence is solidified enough. The Sens only need to focus on getting D right now. Afterall they have yet to make the playoffs in 5+ years. They can wait to add more offrnce another year or 2
If Murray goes to the Leafs they should pay a premium, afterall they are our arch rivals. No salary retention.plus+

Is there a possibility PD looks to Montreal and Jeff Petry for a RHD?
I am not so sure trading for a 34 year old RHD that has $6.5M for 3 more years is a good idea. |

Just mind boggling yes I hope he turns out as a gem but these days ya just don’t know
And agree with Debrincat no way in hell PD gonna pay him 9-10million 🤷♂️

I am not a huge fan of signing Giroux. But if they spend their supposed $75m budget for this year there is more than enough money for Giroux and for a top 4 Dman (assuming Murray, Zaitsev and Connor Brown are moved. |

Trustee board has set this year's player budget at $75m (10% less than the cap). Knowing that Stutzle and Zub need substantial dollars added to their contracts next year tells us someone has already decided this team is going to be spending to the cap within a very short period of time. |

This is a very nice change of pace, but How can the team do a 180 on spending so quickly, when they've been so strapped for cash for so long. |

But yeh it is a little overwehlming to the senses right now everything going on all at once. |
