Ya....Sanderson hasn't played a game in the NHL and his hand is in tatters he can't even shoot the puck at dev camp.
Relax on having to pay him anything.

I remember being disappointed when Edmonton fell to fourth in the lottery that year because I thought that meant they were not getting JP and then Jarmo Kekäläinen passed on him and chose DuBois instead which should have been a red flag.
I like Edmonton so have watched a fair number of their games and JP rarely shows the kind of player that he should be considering all the tools he has in his possession. Watching him during the playoffs this year was awful. I would steer clear. Too bad because he does have all the tools except for the one between his ears. - Whatisavailable
The guy takes off more nights than he shows up, he is not a team player, at his cap number why a team want to unload him if he was valuable. If I was a Sens fan, a big no thanks, I saw enough Oilers games this year where he was underwhelming in fact many of his goals came when the game was out of reach, does that remain you Sens fans of a former Sen named Mike Hoffman. If Ottawa trades for him DJ Smith will be making him a healthy scratch 10 games into the season. He made Colin White a scratch saying he didn't play the game the right way, well Jesse P is far worse. I don't know why any team would want this player.

Interesting. Many good depth players not being qualified. Teams want players to negotiate their contracts downwards. UFAs deciding to go to market disappointed the team's final offer.
This reflects just how tight teams are in relation to the cap. Teams that have cap space need to hold back in jumping into the market. There are going to be some very good players available at discount values. |

Leafs might back out on a potential deal with Murray with Samsonov not qualified today....Caps are all in on Kuemper. They could have Samsonov cheap!

Nothing close yet, on Murray.....too many other moving pieces and add in the Samsonov aspect today, all of a sudden the Leafs should go after him and pass on Murray. If Ottawa has to retain anything more than 25% they should just buy him out, but they have until Noon July 13th, less than 48 hours!

Just in the 2 games I saw him play against the Sens this year, a big hard pass....no thanks!!!

a G that WSH though was not worth qualifying vs a G that has had bad injury luck in OTT and player ok when he did with a bad D, maybe Leafs think Murray can do better with a better D, but if OTT get Chychrun or theodore OTT will have a better D than the leafs. |

Yes well said! Once the Murray deal is done, PD will be focussing on top 4 D, he needs to budge though to get a deal done with AZ!!

The Penguins NEVER offered 4 years to Evgeni Malkin. His camp reportedly tried to get there with GM Ron Hextall, and closest they got was “what it could look like.” The 4-year contract was NOT on table from Penguins. |

DeBrincat is 5'7", how many players that small can play a rugged playoff style hockey like your coach wants his guys to play? Plus, no team that has a player making 10M or more in the NHL has ever won a cup because you tie up too much dollars tied up in one player. - PuckPix
I specifically recall Dean Brown asking him a question on Friday about how he has only managed to miss 4 games, he said you gotta use your speed and not get involved a lot physically otherwise with his size he would find himself on the injured list a lot. Found that interesting.

he is correct, with his size he would just bounce off all the other players if he tried to hit them, he is skill and speed, |

Absolutely, especially if he cant unload Murray and Malkin signs somewhere else...then Giroux is in play for Pitt.

Well, it will be interesting to see if he can play how DJ wants it....could end up being banged up more than playing. Connor Brown and Colin White found that out the last 2 years, trying to play that rugged style....the body cant keep it up.

At $2.3M Leafs can afford to use Murray to share the net (probably not Samsonov). Someone thinks there’s something left but I’m not sure it’s a huge risk as long as you guys go get someone to pay for the other 50%.
(Always dangerous to post best case just before a deal is announced) |

Doug Wilson Jr. had a year left on his deal with the Sharks but both sides felt it made sense to move on, given connection to his dad Doug and to give new Sharks GM Mike Grier a fresh start. Wilson Jr. already talking to other front offices looking for next opportunity. |

Ottawa should hire him to replace Trent Mann since his position open!

I just tweeted this out!
Murray is owed 7M this yr, 8M next yr in real money, cap hit is 6.25AAV. TOR wants OTT to retain up to 50% salary along with sending a 3rd rd. pick w/ Murray. PD wants to retain 25% and send a 2nd rd. pick in 2023. At least it sounds like no prospect or current roster player

going the other way. TOR would send back a 7th rd pick in 2024 or a lower end prospect. If TOR stands pat on the 50%, look for a 3rd team to possibly be a part of the deal. TOR has really pressed hard for C. Brown but both sides are far apart on adding compensation to the deal!

As a few of you know, I'm out with a few former Sens players as we speak. PD needs to get the Murray deal done asap, with the buyout period to end on July 13th. Lots of moving pieces I'm told, once the Murray deal is hopefully done, then his focus is Top 4 D and AZ is his focus!
