if they get chyrchrun, JDB becomes expendable, Sokolov and Branny can go too, the biggest problem is the 2023 1st being unprotected.
how they gonna sign, Norris ~8M, Cat ~9M, Zub ~5M, Stu between 6-9M Sanderson 5-8M while having Giroux at ~7M then teres Shane Pinto, Formenton and Joseph... - Mithos
Million dollar question. Cap will stay under $85m for three years and then it should jump to around $96m. Sens are going to need to get rid of all deadwood contracts. Be okay with moving out some top salaries. In terms of pure math, if they can keep their top 6 players at $48m ($8m. avg. per player) and hold the next 6 to $30m ($5m avg. per player).
Oops. I forgot. They need and ownership group that is ready to make it happen. |

I don't think there is that's why the price going back the other way wasn't that great along with his 9 million qualifying offer - GPHawksfan
no deal....Dorion even said he hopes after this coming season then maybe they get a extension done

Thanks for the rumour updates, Kevin. I've maintained that if the Sens want a true top 4 D, that makes youngsters like Thomson, JBD, Branstrom expendable. I think I would pull the trigger on Chychrun. Dorion has been burned with unprotected picks before, but adding Chychrun would fill holes at two positions today that most expressed the team needed to address. The team would be better with a summer of more team adjustment possible.
I also don't hate Myers, for the right pice to acquire. Not my first choice, but hard not to upgrade on the defence after Chabot and Zub. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
Thanks my friend!
3rd choice is Myers, Weegar 2nd choice and 1st choice is Chychrun I am told

to trade a top 10 pick for a player and not even trying to extend him until his last RFA year is insanity, hell the Kings wasted no time extending Fiala... |

It’s hard to really hate this move for debrincat. I’m actually surprised Chi got so little for him. Sens didn’t even give up 1 prospect(crazy).
We’ll see how much of his success relied on Kane, as that was his primary line mate..but again, really hard to not like a lot of what he brings:
-RW
-Top 6 (probably top line)
-Young (fits the age group of the team)
-Contract Control (for now)
If we could address our d and our goalie mess..I could believe. I’ll completely forget about the 2023 draft.

I think Sens need to wait until next summer before they are allowed to talk with Debrincat about a contract extension. |

your an idiot pure and simple, paying 7th OA, 39th OA and a 3rd for 1-1.5 years of a guy is pure stupidity, proly just as bad as the murray to Buff trade - Mithos
You're wasting your breath. With his every move Dorion is slowly but surely moving Ottawa farther and farther away from serious Cup contention and the clapping monkeys cheer. |

i dont mean while they were nego with CHi, i mean if Dorion would have said he will ASAP negotiate an extension with Cat then it would alleviate the concern of many, but he wants to wait till Cats last RFA year, that is bad. |

So, I think we are happy.
Watched beginning of Sportsnet Draft show. First topic was the Debrincat deal and they asked Pierre McGuire to comment. He said it was a smart move and a great acquisition by Ottawa of the right kind of player. He noted that Dibrincats 41 goals when added to Ottawa's team goals would be enough to put them in the playoffs.
But the best part of McGuire's comments were saved for last. He said he wanted to congratulate the Melnyk family for making this happen.

Not sure why it's a problem if he does or doesn't.
Dorian has done a great job today so far. Give credit when it's due |

Maybe we can see how Dibrincat plays and then get moving on an extension? Lots of time to figure it out. If Dibrincat works out, that means the team is winning and he is performing well. Extension could come easily. If it doesn't work out, you can move on family easily.
Relax. Enjoy seeing a big name trade TO town rather than AWAY from town. |

Solid comments by McGuire I thought. Little tongue in cheek with the Melnyk family comment, which is actually warranted if they are allowing more spending. |

Who comes off the number 1 PP Unit this coming season?
Batherson, Norris, Stutzle or Tkachuk? - Kevin Francis
So even if you can recoup a first round pick for the midget somewhere down the road you will have broken the bond between those 4 core players in the meantime.
No serious Cup contender will want anything to do with a 9 million dollar midget but all the clapping monkeys are cheering. Poor Stutzle is going to get pulverized this year. |

100% agree... it's precisely the kind of thing Giroux would be looking for as evidence that he should sign with the Senators. - khawk
If they could add Chycrun or Weegar to round out the top 4D, then Ottawa would have to be a leading candidate.
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Debrincat - Stutzle - Giroux
Joseph - Pinto - Brown
Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Chycrun
Holden - Hamonic
Thomson... |

He truly did with this trade, but he played his hand on Murray, which will put him at the mercy of other GMs when trying to unload him!

If another move is to be made.
What would be more beneficial a top 4 shut down d or a bona-fide #1 goalie? |

Curious to see how Debrincat does without Patrick Kane feeding him points. How many points did he get without compared to with Kane on the Hawks? After Pius Suter, i'm weary of anyone that plays with Kane that goes to another team being able to come even close to the type of production they did with him. |

It's too bad the Murray deal got leaked. It certainly leaves a bit of a sour taste. I think you posted on twitter Kevin, why in the world would you negotiate so far with a team on a no trade list of a player?! |

trading a top 10 pick for 1.5 years of player is dumb, especially when the team is still in the bottom 10, if they do not extend him then this is a disaster of a trade. |
