Curious to see how Debrincat does without Patrick Kane feeding him points. How many points did he get without compared to with Kane on the Hawks? After Pius Suter, i'm weary of anyone that plays with Kane that goes to another team being able to come even close to the type of production they did with him. - dcz28
That is my only concern with Debrincat. Kane is an elite talent. Ottawa doesn't have that level of playmaker on the team yet. We saw Dadanov do next to nothing with no Huberdeau. Hopefully Stu and Debrincat get some chemistry. I do think Debrincat is much more capable than Dadanov ever was. |

What would be more beneficial a top 4 shut down d or a bona-fide #1 goalie? - spazzbot

trading a top 10 pick for 1.5 years of player is dumb, especially when the team is still in the bottom 10, if they do not extend him then this is a disaster of a trade. - Mithos
What if they extended him, gave more to the hawks to acquire as a result, and still finish bottom 10?
Lots of what if's are possible. Why focus on negative ones? |

Maybe we can see how Dibrincat plays and then get moving on an extension? Lots of time to figure it out. If Dibrincat works out, that means the team is winning and he is performing well. Extension could come easily. If it doesn't work out, you can move on family easily.
Relax. Enjoy seeing a big name trade TO town rather than AWAY from town. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
Ya I agree, I get everyone’s worried that debrincat is going to cost too much or won’t extend, but he hasn’t even played yet!
We don’t even know if this is going to work or not for both sides.
I want this to play itself out, see if it’s a match..and if it is? Discuss extension.
At the end of the day we gave up picks in what is considered a very confusing draft that doesn’t even have a consensus #1..let alone top 10

He truly did with this trade, but he played his hand on Murray, which will put him at the mercy of other GMs when trying to unload him! - Kevin Francis
I don't think so. My understanding (Garrioch) is that had the Buffalo deal gone through the #7, plus Murray and another warm body would have gone to Buffalo and the #16 coming back to Ottawa would have been flipped to Chicago with additional picks for Debrincat.

Especially with high picks , but those don't always work out. Looking back to the Ryan trade, Nick Ritchie looked pretty good, but has had a fairly pedestrian career, not to knock him.
Big difference this time is that he's an RFA too, as opposed to a UFA like previous trade targets. |

Yeah, i hope for you guys that it isn't a Cheechoo effect of just playing with an elite playmaker. |

Wright seemed excessively confident for a guy who hadn't shown great progression in his draft year.
Slafkovsky had a great year. Nemec is a high end DMan and Cooley has been seen as having the most upside.

is this the first time in NHL history a player projected to go 1st OA drop to 4th? |

UPDATED - The Yotes are asking for 2023 1st round pick unprotected, JBD and Sokolov. I was told AZ asked for Brannstrom too, to acquire Chychrun. Yotes are maintaining they want 4 pieces for him.....Sens offering 3 pieces.....Yotes have countered asking for the Sens 2nd rd pick they got from TB.
is that still with a unprotected 2023 1st? |

CHI took Kevin Korchinski with 7th, ranked early to late teens |

you and everyone else, the problem IMO is the unprotected 2023 1st, Yotes know that even with Chyrch, Cat and possibly Giroux, with smith as HC OTT is still bottom 10 team |

The obvious monkey in the room is Conner Bedard next year being the best prospect since McDavid. Odds that Ottawa would fall that far with a legitimately improved roster is slim. In addition, odds to win the lottery would have to be a perfect storm. How bad luck would that actually be? Teams like the Habs and Hawks are totally rebuilding to get a shot at Bedard. |

If they add these pieces, Giroux and Jakob C, they arent a bottom 10 team. There are teams that are going to seriously regress. |
