American kid. May have had not great experiences in OHL as a kid. Who knows.
I wouldn't worry about the comments too much. Seems more digging for negatives in a story which should be a positive one. - Gord_Wilson_2.0
It was on satellite radio center ice.

rofl, OTT trades 7th for Cat, plays 2 season in OTT than signs with CHI as a UFA in 2024/2025. - Mithos
That is a real possibility.
We gave up the 7th overall pick, which if things worked out after 3 to 4 years, would project to be a middle six forward or a second pair defenceman. In return we get one of the top goal scorers in the league for a minimum of two years.
At some point in time, the team needs to make a push to be a contender. With Chabot, Tkachuk, Norris and Batherson fully established as impact players and Sanderson/Stutzle ready to make big impacts, now is the time to take risks.

I guess if Ottawa had of selected 7th overall, Thomas Chabot was going to do the selection on stage. |

On XM/Sirius tonight, one of the hosts had a quote from Alex D from last year in which he said he didn't want to play in Canada....should be interesting! - Kevin Francis
Not his brother play hockey junior in Ottawa area. He said, you would like the city |

Has Debrincat made any statement about the trade? |
|
|
|
It seems the trade is (almost) universally viewed as a home run for the Senators. That is everyone but a few people on this board seem to think it is a home run. |

It's too bad Toronto beat Ottawa to it, as the Hawks were talking with Ottawa about Murray....but the Leafs were able to trade Mrazek to Chicago. |
|
|
|
that does not bode well...7th OA+ for 1.5 years of cat....seems many players do not wish to play in canada. - Mithos
1.5 years plus the return, which isn’t likely to be much less than what they paid. |

Buried amid the DeBrincat news, Sens extended Heatherington today to a 2-year, 2-way deal. $750k in the first year, $775k in the second year.
Personally, I like this. I thought he wasn’t bad in the few games he played in Ottawa, and he helps stabilize the blue line in Belleville.

I would not be dealing a 2023 1st rounder.
Not even to address our defense.
Deal some of the kazillion prospects we have.
Crazy things happen throughout the reg. season and it’s not like this team is Colorado/Tampa and is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.
Too much risk |

Agree. If it’s not top 10 protected, it shouldn’t be on the table. At least not in a potential Chychrun trade. |

Murray - Oilers/Devils/Leafs? - Kevin Francis
Leafs might just be dumb enough to shed Mrazek just to replace him with another brutal contract in Murray (even if Sens retain salary). |

They will circle back to Ottawa if Kuemper or Campbell want too much $.
It would be nice for the Leafs to help us for once lol

I had a source text me earlier tonight saying Ottawa could do similar to what they did in the Karlsson to SJ, if Ottawa chooses to keep 2023, then AZ would get a first in 2024.

Well that sounds like a quote from the Chris Broussard school of informed decision-making. |

From Pierre LeBrun -
Leafs GM Kyle Dubas on his goalie options now. Wanted more cap flexibility. Says will look at both UFA market and trade options. |

Let's pump the brakes a bit guys - speculating whether DeBrincat will leave in 1.5 years before he even puts on the jersey and hits the ice is hyperbolic doomsday prophesizing. I'm just happy to be psyched about the Sens for a change, especially all those rumours! More to come it would appear, and this team will look radically different next year. I can't wait for a de-Zaitseving to happen. I'd be happy running Murray as a backup until his contract is up as opposed to spending assets to ditch him, but sounds like that's wishful thinking. |

No chance Murray will be here to start the season! Unloading Zaitsev the next big thing to do after Murray....
