He can and does play both.

Barzal to the wing. FO,s aren’t that good and also less responsibility in the D zone.

It seems like Lou has picked a few guys that fell further than they expected. Could be some real value in the coming years off some of them work out.

Agreed, get the best value available.
You can see Barzal’s influence this year in Lou’s moves.

Definitely a couple projects, but happy with it so far...given where we were picking

Their plan is to just suck it and suck it hard for a few years.

Yep. Good player to go all in on the suck for. I see Kane getting moved at some point along with Toews if they can find someone to take him…

Even more baffling why you keep Kane and Toews and trade Debrincat and Dach.

Yeah both of those deals were unusual. I’m sure there’s something we’re not hearing like the players weren’t willing to be part of a rebuild or something along those lines. Kane and Toews who knows maybe they don’t want to be traded or at the very least they may be making it more difficult for them to get traded with their NMC’s.

I’m pretty sure they both have expiring contracts so I would think moving them (separately) wouldn’t be that hard. Plus, you keep youth, keep your cap fairly low and have a base to work with. I don’t know that I’m one to talk with the ownership and Mickey Mouse poop we dealt with for decades but that franchise seems to be in serious disarray and why would either of them want to languish for a lost year. Team’s not winning, I guess they could be had at the trade deadline…

I get that, but for the reasons I already stated maybe they’d drop that clause.

They’d drop it if they want to go there. Wouldn’t be the first time players used their NMC to negate a trade. I expect if they are on play there’s a list of teams they’ll accept a trade too. Not sure if there’s any truth to it but it was reported that Varlamov nixed a trade to the oilers at the trade deadline. Point being it makes trading them, possibly, exponentially harder.

Maybe trading them at the deadline would be more attractive to THEM. You have to assume any team that gives up serious assets at that point has a very realistic shot at a Cup and they are both winners so I think that would appeal to them. I just don’t see why they were so eager to trade Debrincat (especially) or Dach though. Picks are great and everything, but these are established NHL players already, ones a borderline star, and have, hopefully, long careers ahead.

Probably didn’t want to resign with the hawks and made it clear to management.

Can confirm Chicago, Patrick Kane and his agent will discuss Kane’s future with the organization, again, in the very near future.
