If we found a Vincent Trocheck type player at a Cap hit of lets say 3.5 because we arent going to find a second line center cheaper, you still have to add in a back up goalie and another Defense man. - Brukie
PAUL STATSNY BOYS!! I’m telling you, he checks most boxes. Can start as 3C and is a good insurance option for Chytil if he can’t handle 2C. $3.5M is probably exactly what he will cost.
We’ve wanted a guy who can win importance faceoffs, he brings leadership and he will still chip in 20 goals. No brainer assuming a bigger trade isn’t coming. |

I bet you could probably sign Comrie for like 975k. Robertson is 800k. Othmann (900k) and Cuylle (830k) could fill a void as well. Cuylle might earn himself a spot this year, I remember last years camp he was one of the final cuts because the Rangers didnt have the option of sending him to the AHL. - aecliptic
They really may have to consider dumping Reaves for a big move. That’s where cuyyle can step in. Tom Wilson is hurt anyway, what’s the point with Reaves hanging around |

I’ve stated I’d be fine with low cost moves like that.
My big fish is Kane tho. Anyone else I’m not interested |

With a healthy Blais, Reaves does become a bit expendable. Hes not a fighter like Reaves, but then again, how many fights did he get into last year? 2? 3? Sure theres the deterrent factor but meh. |

Is it cheap though if they’re paying 50% of Nylander’s salary? - nyrangers9479
Nylander full price = $6.9 mill 50% = $3.45 mill
Lindgren full salary = $3 mill
$3 mill + $3.45 = $6.45 mill $450k cap savings to Toronto on the deal |

Whoops
I brought it up yesterday too and got crickets. I would be very happy with that as a fall back if nothing bigger happens. |

I mentioned it a lot during the deadline, and hes been a career 54% faceoff guy which we need. |

I’m with ya. I was all for him but times have changed a bit since then. We appear tougher than we used to be with new guys.
If I’m Colorado I want him against teams like Nashville. That’s the one weakness Avs have, toughness. Especially if Kadri and Manson walk. |

But that begs the question, are you as a GM worried about rearranging your squad because of 1 or 2 teams that may bang you up? If youre faster, quicker more skilled... you cant hit something thats not in front of you. |

I mean I think they’ll have the cap room? We just are so desperate for every penny. They don’t even have to dress him (which I think was our intent when we signed him and then Blais got hurt). And we didn’t wanna give him the extra year if I recall |

"Did you see my posts" from nearly one month ago?
That's when I initially mentioned two options for next season:
(1) (On 6/14/22 "Breakup Day For The Rangers" blog - pgs. 11 & 12):
The RFA eligible mid 20's age Eric Comrie being an affordable possible available backup to Igor in the $1M to $1.5M range, vs. Georgiev's $2.425M expiring.
Comrie posted a 2.58 GAA & .920 SV% in 19 games as Hellybuyck's backup this past season. Word had him wanting to depart due to the Jets having younger minor leaguers likely ready to look at initially in a backup role; with hope of one becoming a potential #1 starter. That, should Hellybuyck decide to depart as a UFA in two years.
(2) (On same above blog pg. 11; & the 6/12/22 "Rangers Eliminated" blog pg. 16):
Should Copp & Strome depart as UFA's, Vincent Trocheck being the best two-way center option to possibly become a UFA. I included his past reg. season two-way stats proving his worth, including also of importance, his 54.6% faceoffs success rate. |

Trochek is to much money.
Comrie would be a great pickup. He’s got good numbers |

Yes, tj.
Trocheck, I believe is coming off an expiring $4.75M cap hit.
Now it's rumored that the Bruins will be heavily interested in signing him if becoming a UFA. I also feel that the Red Wings could be interested, in the event they fear their heavily rumored UFA target named Andrew Copp becomes too pricey for them.
The RFA eligible, Eric Comrie would likely be the best and lowest cost backup to Igor possibly available July 13th.
Greiss I believe is coming off an expiring $3.6M deal.
I want no part of Halak at this point of his career. |

A nice trade could be Zac Jones for Blake Lizotte. He’s tiny however, but fast. Man is he fast. Motte wouldn’t be signed because Lizotte is the same kind of player. BUT he’s a center, where Motte isn’t. 4th line center right up our alley salary wise
I keep seeing Kings need a LHD |

Lizotte is definitely better than the 4th line role he has been given in LA. He stood out when we played them |

I think Cuylle at minimum gets his 9 games before they figure out what they’re going to do with him. I actually think he makes the team this year. |

I’d love if we could get Byfield but I doubt LA is looking to trade him. They have Kopitar Danault Byfield Turcotte Vilardi Kupari, something has to give. They were rumored to be looking for wingers and LHD, not sure if that changed though after they got Fiala. Kakko Jones+ for Byfield would be great. |

I think Kupari for Jones is fair too.
Turcotte and Vilardi scare me, concussions for Turcotte and Vilardi has been around while now and mostly meh results. I’d trade for Turcotte but for less they’d want probably
I don’t see how they’d trade Byfield. He’s perfect 3C for them right now. But they have excess at center as we’ve discussed quite often.
They are gonna get chychrun tho I keep hearing
Would you do Kandre for Byfield? 😬 |

I think we get a 2C and all this ridiculousness about Kane Gudreau etc gets put to bed. I agree with Turcotte and Vilardi, would have to basically get them for nothing for me to want them. |

The only thing that makes sense if they get a 2C is Chytil is either in the trade and Kakko stays, or Chytil moves to the wing and Kakko goes.
Chytil nor Kakko can be 3rd liners. They need to be top 6. That why I just assume leave Chytil in the two spot. We could regret getting a 2C by the end of the year if Chytil explodes, which is possible. He looked like a new player and man once the playoffs started. And I can’t believe I’m the one the repeats this over and over I couldn’t wait for him to go |

You may very well be right (savor this moment), but even a man as plain jane bread-is-too-spicy-for-me boring as Chris Drury is definitely salivating at the idea of Kane playing on a line with Panarin |

Iam too for that matter.
The fly in the ointment with that is they may wait til the deadline and that does us no good. We need this now, not at the deadline because wed really be hamstrung during the season |
