While playing junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, DeAngelo was twice suspended for violating the league’s harassment, abuse and diversity policy — at least once after using an unspecified slur against a teammate. And he was suspended once in juniors and again with the Arizona Coyotes for abuse of an official.

https://www.lohud.com/sto...ix-month-saga/8064117002/

Rangers bought him out after playing 6 games on a 2 year contract extension. How long do the Flyers have him signed for? That's still 2 more games than we got out of Ellis's 6 year deal.

Suspended for abuse of official .. etc.

Anyone defending this idiot's past antics has an agenda. There's nothing accidental, he's not misunderstood, he likes to troll people, he's just an ass. If he was just an average player he his NHL career would be long over.

While the Flyers/Comcast preach character, the truth is as long as the production on the ice outweighs the baggage off the ice they, like a few other teams, will hold their nose.

In a vacuum, just looking at numbers and age, he's a good add but it's not a vacuum and he's just under 2 years from getting kicked off the rangers and them eating his contract rather than have him play one more minute with them.

Also keep in mind, the atmosphere in Philly is a bit different than Carolina.

Fletcher is unequivocally the worst GM in Flyers history

First, the Flyers are not capped out, no matter how many times you keep posting it. In fact since its pretty much a given that Ellis will not be back, Fletcher just replaced Ellis with a top pairing RHS defenseman for less money, so in actually the Flyers just gained another $1M+ in cap space. Furthermore, Fletcher just got a player that had 51 points and a +30 in only 64 games last season and is only 26 years old, and he got him without giving up any 1st round picks. But only on this forum could we make these ridiculous statements that Fletcher is the worst GM of all time.
- jd250

You continue to embarrass yourself with a lack of knowledge of how the salary cap works. Only in your world does adding a player at a cap hit of 5M gain the team 1M in cap space. Must be the new math.

He pretty much is. Remember what you said? Fletcher isn't going to give up future draft picks to win now. The team approach has changed. What were you told? Now here you are green lighting Fletcher's move. Just as predicted.

By who? The majority of rankings had him going between 10 and 20 until a few weeks ago when it came out he’ll be playing center. And Bill already said he thinks a better winger lol.

He could’ve taken Nazar. This pick was a reach plain and simple.

- hereticpride

Nazar wouldve been a huge reach at 5, every mock i saw had cutter top 10, most top 6

They moved down 13 spots and did not retain any salary. Mrazek has 2 years at $3+mil per. That was a really good deal for the Leafs.

I don't think so. If it is that bad there will need to be a change. But also lets see how the rest of the offseason goes. I still think JVR will get moved and would not be shocked if Konecny and Lindblom are moved.

You could see picks coming back in those deals that replace what was lost.

- J35Bacher

But the question is who fills those roster spots if they trade those players?

Sign another high priced UFA that will really destroy the future of the team or just fill in with the revolving door players they currently call up?

No offense but I will have to wait to believe the pick-replacement theory if I see it.

Obviously the conservative comment is idiotic and should be ignored.

The move in and of itself is not an awful move in a vacuum. However it's a continuation of a failed strategy to continually try and trade and sign your way to the top. Putting the team on a path of being a team that can compete for the playoffs but is no where near the top of the league. With no realistic path to the Cup. Putting the team in the worst position a team can be in. Capped out and not good enough. They don't understand how to build a team with continuity in the lineup through the draft. They don't understand how as a lower team, how to use cap space as a weapon against other teams. They continually bail out other teams.

Random quick sampling of the internet:

r/hockey: "Is Fletcher a (frank)ing moron?"

hfboards: "Worst GM in the sport. This cements it."

broadstreethockey: "F'ing Fletcher!"

Flyers facebook: "Is Fletcher brain dead?"

So taking on a player another team needs to move out and getting a high level asset to do so. That's what a bad team should do to get better. Man, I wish we had Chicago's management. They'll be in the Cup picture before the Flyers are.

It was a really deft cap dump by them.

Compare that to what the Oil had to pay to dump Kassian, or to what Chucky paid to get rid of Ghost.

JVR and Lindblom saw time in the bottom 6. They seem to have a lot of guys that can fill those roles or need to play. Allison, Lazynski, Cates, Ratcliff, Laughton, Frost, Brown i see competing for bottom 6 roles.

Briere won’t survive this. If this season goes up in smoke, there will be a bloodletting this organization hasn’t seen before. Fans aren’t coming back if this team isn’t good this year and right now it’s trending that way. Comcast won’t sit on their hands forever and bleed money.
- psuhockey

Oh ye of little faith.

They agreed to deal with jg
Got tony d.
They’ll be just good enough to push for playoffs.

Add in next addition to the gritty family
They’ll make enough $ to keep the train going.

Seems like it was a good deal for the hawks to me. The leafs are in win now mode but eventually pissing away picks to cover for bad signing will cost them.

Yes and that move only came because he switched positions. And Bill is already saying he thinks he’ll make a better winger than center lol. It’s a reach.

Exactly....That Kassian move was costly. Imagine the the cost to move JVR? The Flyers will have no picks left if they try to do that
