It’s no god no matter how it’s looked at

Either Fletcher is entirely responsible, or the old guard is very much still influencing the overall direction.

Either way it's a cluster you know what.

Briere won’t survive this. If this season goes up in smoke, there will be a bloodletting this organization hasn’t seen before. Fans aren’t coming back if this team isn’t good this year and right now it’s trending that way. Comcast won’t sit on their hands forever and bleed money.

Briere is the future, won’t be him.

Well, one thing is for sure, Chuck has prioritized size so far with all these picks.

Remember all the talk during the Holmgren years when the Flyers never hit on a player with a draft pick past the 1st round? Helps to use them. We're back but hey, no influence at all from the country club. This is the way to build a team in the modern day NHL.

No no it’s all Dave Scott’s own idea. He doesn’t know a thing about hockey, but one night the ghost of Ed Snider came to him and said “We are one or two players away from being right back in it.”

we are going to need every spare nickel

True, but that wouldn't even be enough to sign Frost, let alone Frost and Tippett. As I said, Ellis must be going on LTIR, and not for a short period of time.

Another MN kid for Chuckie

But a good pick at that spot. Bump was projected to go mid 3rd to the end of the 4th.Bump had 48 goals in 31 games in high school which is impressive considering the competition. He’s surprisingly strong for his size and is good along the boards. Let’s see how he does at Vermont.

Actually haven't they positioned themselves to be pretty bad?

I'm optimistic we get some timely injuries.

Arizona, and Chicago have set themselves up very nicely for the 2023 draft.

HAHAHAHAH, the old guard, was waiting for someone to bring that up again. Pretty sure Clarke is calling the shots

I guess Chuck realizes our forwards are pretty damned small overall.

I broke it down:

Risto and DeAngelo cost them:

2021 1st (13)
2022 2nd (36)
2022 4th
2022 7th
2023 2nd
2023 3rd
2024 2nd

That is four 1st/2nd round picks to pay two RHD 5M+ each per season. Since the 2005 draft, the Flyers have made 33 1st/2nd round picks. Ask me how many of those were RHD.

Yes. Chuck thinks he is being clever here. After the Flyers sign JG he will be one step ahead in the PR game when the undersized forwards criticism inevitably comes up.

Two RHD third pair guys (if they play where they are supposed to)

An amazing abuse of draft assets.

Welp, that’s one way to “aggressively retool.” I want to really this move work out as a fan of the team, but my level of apathy for this franchise is growing after last season.

Duncan Keith retiring would result in a cap recapture penalty for the Chicago #Blackhawks both next season and the season after that.

2022-23: $5,538,462
2023-24: $1,938,456

For Edmonton, Keith's cap hit comes off their books and frees up $5,538,462 in cap space next season.

Maybe Chicago also knew this was coming. That is a big nut for this season.
