Lol...one of Chuck's guys...he was a scour in Minny for years before coming to Philadelphia.

That's the 2nd family/familiar tie for draft selections this year. The first being Cutter...where Chuck was the GM of his father Sean down in Louisville.

We have a lot of big and slow. We need fast. This pick does not help with that need.

I haven't been paying that much attention. I read it on twitter. This franchise isn't even worth complaining about anymore.

I think Provy gets traded. DeAngelo will be on PP1. York wants to play on the left side. I can't even begin to speculate on the return.

The reason we now have the Ellis fiasco is because we had to find a shoulder for Provy to lean on.

Heres a thought, maybe we move away from Provy so we no longer have to find someone to play with him?

They like D’Angelo cause he can run a pp and move the puck. I agree they mangled the D improvement project last year, but that should not prevent them from trying to improve this year.

He put up back to back 50 pt years playing 60 some games each year. What am I missing?

Yes, I know he is or was nuts..

He did play number 1 dman minutes at times last year. Not saying he is Pronger on d, but you still have to have a pp that is at least decent.

Lastly the pp sucked w ghost, jake, g and provy on it. New faces can’t be a bad thing

- Joe Nardone

Is your suggestion to move on from Provorov and focus on D’Angelo? Did you just type a long winded message with this thought? Even while admitting he may have questionable character?

I hate some of these ridiculous arguments. “Provorov needs a shoulder to lean on?” What Just Braun that shoulder the passed two seasons? Every great player plays with great linemates and produce in all areas unless you’re Mario Lemieux returning from the dead to save his franchise from bankruptcy. Giroux was a great player but he wasn’t playing with Dan Carrillo every night and producing on his own. Every player needs support. Provorov needs support and there is nothing wrong with this.

I wanted the Flyers to stock pile picks but comparing DeAngelo to Yandle is just silly, comparing Seeler to Yandle is silly
- wcorvette

The statement of an upgrade over Yandle was sarcasm. Not a comparison.

There are not many defenseman in the league that can replace Ellis, but this at least gives the Flyers a credible top pairing with Provorov, assuming Provorov is not moved. DeAngelo improved his defensive play last year, and there is no reason to think he will not be as good under Torts.
- jd250

We don't know that DeAngelo will be paired with Provorov. DeAngelo was not good defensively last year.

Every team needs multiple top defenseman to play on a top pairing. Nothing to do with needing a shoulder to lean on. That is a ridiculous opinion.

Gostisbehere can play on the PP and move the puck. Should've kept him and the numerous draft picks.

I post for speed all the time but a 3rd that will not see the NHL for 3-4, if they do? I assume he was their best available player on their list. Cf has also taken some swings at smaller players, probably balancing the ledger.

Now for a reality check, let's see if we can bring you back from planet Delusia. Ellis is DONE! Fletcher does not make this move unless Ellis is not coming back. Therefore Ellis' $6.25M cap hit is put on LTIR, which is where it is right now. Once again Fletcher is left with a gaping hole in his 1st defensive pairing and in need of a RHS defenseman, and NO ONE in the system ready to take on that role. DeAngelo slots into that spot at $5M very nicely, and by doing so saves Fletcher $1.25M in cap space for that slot (simple math, $6.25M - $5M = $1.25M).

I never said I was happy with this move, never not once! I was hoping Fletcher would not trade picks for players, but in this case I am not sure what else he could have done, unless of course you want him to go into next season with a gaping hole in his first defensive pairing? Fletcher's job is on the line, that was made clear by Scott in the mid season presser. Fletcher is going to ice the best team he can for himself, and his new coach Torts. My only hope is that Torts can get DeAngelo to play the way he wants him to, and do so without any internal issues that have plagues DeAngelo in the past. If DeAngelo plays the way he is capable, this could very well turn our great for the Flyers, especially given Ellis' condition. However there is also a lot of risk here.

- jd250

I’m confused… you repeatedly say you trust what the flyers SAY and stay optimistic with that propaganda.
Ie… Chuck said Ellis will be skating by July timetable and most likely back for camp. You spewed and argued how everyone was wrong to criticize team and future by not going off info team said like you do.

Think logically… if Scott said mid season cf was on hot seat how in the fudge did he not get fired at end of season? 4th worst team in league and all.

Now you are saying you assume Ellis done for year and right or wrong the move for Tony d kinda had to be made.

So are you now seeing as most do that this team is a lying sack of money grab or are you assuming to defend the team moves still? You seem to be kinda on the fence.

It’s ok to come to the dark side. It’s so much better over here just unloading on this stupid ass team and getting it all out. Even if it’s on fellow fans that constantly defend them as they are an extension of the money grab propaganda machine

You're just playing a semantics game now. All I care about is when the season starts, the Flyers will be cap compliant. Teams that are capped out are by definition NOT cap compliant. You are focusing on the wrong thing!

And there is a difference between liking the move and going to the extreme of saying Fletcher is the worst GM in the league. It was to this point that my post was directed. I would liked Fletcher to go in a different direction this off season and stated that several times already, but I understand why he made this move, that is all I am saying. Again, IMO this move does not happen if Ellis is healthy or going to be healthy. IMO I would not be surprised if Ellis's career is over.

- jd250

More ignorance. Has there ever been a team that has not been cap compliant in the 17 years that the cap has been in place. You are continuing to embarrass yourself. Capped out means at or over the upper limit. Capped out and cap compliant are not the same thing. You have no clue. You foolishly thought that adding 5M to the cap gave the Flyers an added 1.25M in cap space. It's hysterical. You called it simple math. In your simple world I guess.

This is just the spin and now defaulting on your previous comments that if Fletcher moves draft picks in an effort to win now, he will lose your support. Your claims of what Fletcher is going to do this off season have been proven wrong. Again.

Yeah, it's the 7th we picked up with TDA.

So what will you think when the Flyers jettison JVR and bring in JG? Are you going to tune out? I think we need to see the off season in its entirety before we make these kind of judgements.
- jd250

This is same as last season when moves started to be made. I personally lay thought it was so laughable and horrible what was predictable they were doing. And told same thing. Wait and see.

No need to wait and see. Their actions speak volumes.

They’ll be lucky to make playoff even once in the next decade

Flyers traded a 2nd to rid themselves of 51-point, $4.5m, offensive D in Gostisbehere, only to trade another 2nd to add a 51-point, $5.0m, offensive D, off-ice problem in DeAngelo.

After 25 years of watching this team, the heartbreak, the garbage I’ve sat through, the signing of DeAngelo is the end of the road for me folks.

I watched his first pro season at ice level, here in Tucson while I was doing some score keeping for the Roadrunners in their inaugural season.

His game sucks. Always has. He’s one dimensional, doesn’t defend well at all, and overall lots of flash without much to back it up. There were rumors floating around the arena 6 years ago about his character, and everything that I heard has proved true. 5th franchise in just about the six seasons. He is a bonafide, confirmed racist piece of garbage, and is every boneheaded rich kid from The Area we all grew up with. He sucks as a player and more as a person. An awful signing, addresses very little of their needs, and will backfire. Mark my words. The dude can’t keep his bigoted mouth shut.

Sorry folks, but that’s it for me. They are so far behind it’s not worth my time anymore. It’s simply not. Good luck to you all. Good luck to the flyers, but this is it for me for a while.

Take care!

This is really just a circus of a franchise now. It really is.

If not for the Washington Commanders this would be the most embarrassing team in pro sports in the whole damn country.
