Exactly....That Kassian move was costly. Imagine the the cost to move JVR? The Flyers will have no picks left if they try to do that - Flyerfan2868
Flyers have 1st, 2nd, 3rd (NYR for Braun), 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th round picks in 2023.
They have two first--round (own, FLA for Giroux), 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th round picks in 2024.
Forthcoming traded picks: 2023 3rd round and 2024 2nd round to CAR for DeAngelo. |

What were we told to expect back in December? - MJL
Seriously? Another question? Ok, I’ll play your game. It’s fun at this point. Perhaps I’m mistaken but wasn’t that when CF promised an aggressive retool? Maybe it was January, but you strike me as the kind of person who should be smart enough to have gotten the general thrust of my post. Remember? Big press conference. Blank checkbook. Not a long term rebuild. Yadda yadda yadda. |

DeAngelo is the shiny object that Fletcher likes in his bias for action mindset. I see DeAngelo as a piece that doesn’t fit into the Flyer puzzle. He’s one dimensional but that one dimension is high end. He’ll improve the PP. I see the Flyers losing more 6-4 games than 3-1. More scoring brings more entertainment. - Minnyhock
Could be but the flyers spend way to much time defending, I do think he will help transition and defending less. I mean if you get Ellis back, you have a D corp with Provy, Sanheim and York, all can move the puck. |

Also no 5th in ‘24. It was traded in the Giroux deal.
They do have two 3rd rounders in ‘23. It looks like in the DeAngelo deal, the traded 3rd is conditional to be the latest of the three they had.
And two 4th rounders in ‘23. |

So you're under the impression that everything was going to happen at the draft? The game seems to be you overreacting and making assumptions that don't make any sense. I agree, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I agree.
They need to play better defense and replace some of G’s production in a bad way. Blowing picks on a guy like DeAngelo makes no sense to me. - hereticpride
We heard rumors of Gaudreau and Debrincat but somehow we got a player who makes even less sense to trade for at a position we didn’t even really need filled. We weren’t even expecting DeAngelo but somehow some way, we have him… |

Seriously? You strike me as the kind of person who should be smart enough to have gotten the general thrust of my post. You seemed to be complaining that what we were told was going happen hasn't happened and that's that for the draft. Maybe you're not aware but teams making moves has really just started. Between now and into free agency. Teams are going to make moves. I don't believe unfortunately that Fletcher is done making moves.

See if you can figure this out. That is why the question was asked. For clarification in an attempt to have a conversation. You responded with the nonsense that you did such the comment about playing a game. It can be cordial or not. Your choice. |

What do you mean by that? Are you saying that your question as to what was said in December was an honest inquiry because you truly did not get my reference? |

Well then, I feel foolish. I still don’t think I’m overreacting though. Maybe overwrought with pessimism as a recovering Flyers fan and certainly I have absolutely no faith in the current regime, however, my point was that by the end of the draft (and the last two days were prime days to pull something off) nothing really has been done. I understand that there is still time for CF to screw things up as the No-cap space Flyers enter free agency next week, but I stand by my feeling a a big nothing burger thus far. That’s pretty much was I was conveying. |

Seems like posters here are spending energy on trying to decipher what Flyers management says at their pressers. It doesn't matter what they say...it's not even what they mean, cause it's just spin. Team management wants asses in seats. This organization is less concerned about winning a cup than the bottom line which has shrunk drastically as fans have stopped following. The draft pick was fine. DeAngelo as an individual was and is a troglodyte... a leopard doesn't change it's stripes, Spending time on a structured team with a coach like Brindy may have convinced him to just shut up and play. He had a really good year in 20-21, hoping Torts can manage him as well. This team continues to aspire to mediocrity...if we accept it by attendance numbers we will get just that. |

I think your expectations are out of whack. Like I said, there is going to be a lot of movement over the next 2-3 weeks. The draft was just the start of it.

I think people are actually paying attention to the fact that the incidents have been at least at the semi-pro & pro levels to the extent that no one wanted him on their roster.
Now he sees the light for one season on a pretty good team and then he's rehabilitated when faced with not having a job.
Get some beers in him around some like-minded folks see what happens. |
