No but he's not freaking out either. |

Not much to freak out about, when the team takes what was the BPA. I think those of us who are commenting in a negative way, just had our hearts set on a defenseman, in the 1st, so more disappointed, than hysteria. |

Forberg signs for 8.5 per.
Probably what Miller is going to expect, as well.

Using a couple teams, who hired new managementat around the same time frame as the Canucks, Anaheim and Montreal, one of which was in a higher position than the Canucks, you, have a couple good comparisons on the moves and house cleaning that can be, and should be done.
Both those teams made a decision that it was time to move on from some players and acquire different talent, while maintaining what those teams consider to be their future core.
Obviously Montreal was in a bit of a different boat this year, but still moved out several players, including a young defenseman, and acquired a young centre to help fill an organizational need.
Anaheim also chose to dump some players and selected several players in the 1st 2 rounds, to fill some organizational needs.
Both these teams, also had a player that they plan on building around, Mtl, Suzuki, Anaheim, MacTavish, on stage for 1st round selections, which I thought was interesting.
Vancouver on the other hand, has done very little in the 6 month time frame that you mention
Yes, I realize that there is a mess to clean up, but both Montreal and Anaheim also have similar situations as the Canucks, and are actually doing something about it.
Edit: forgot to mention Chicago as well. - Reubenkincade
Ironically you can also throw the NYR into the mix as well. I'm going to have a real problem if JTM's camp is trying to hold up things until the TDL, as it's been suggested, I would hope that's not the case. I'll wait and see what the team looks like at camp.

Thankfully they really don't have any power in this situation. How could they hold things up? |

Their camps unreasonably high asking price/term (if true), high enough to scare off teams asking for permission to negotiate with their camp before a trade is made. I'm sure JTM has teams in mind he'd like to go to. It's a slippery slope, players and agents can lose respect as easy as a bad GM.

Accelerated by a big name free agent, a couple lotto wins, and a couple big defence pieces that would only play and asked for trades to the rangers. |

That gets left out a lot these days. No Fox or Pannarin and they aren't done rebuilding. Trouba is a wash because they traded Pionk for him, and he is a damned good defenseman. |

I like Pionk, but he couldn't carry Trouba's jockstrap. Not even close to a wash. |

Jay Beagle only wanted to play in Vancouver, OEL forced the trade to the Canucks.
Should the Rangers apologize for being a destination where people want to play? This narrative is such a lame justification for why the rebuild in Vancouver is taking so long. |

They have all summer to move...
JTM
Garland
Myers
You'll get some nice assets for those players and hopefully go into camp with a couple of areas of weakness crossed off your list.

Imo, they need to pick 4 players, currently on the roster and make everyone else available, obviously not all at once.
Not my choices, but it would make some sense that Pouty, Demko Podkolzin and the rover be kept for now at least. |
