It's so much steeper than it is from bottom 5 to qualifying. The only difference is that a goalie can carry you so much further. It helps if they aren't playing 65+ games in the regular season. - golfingsince
Yeah, just look at the experienced depth the Avs acquired to make that run and what they had to spend to get it. People are shitting bricks when we trade a 3rd round pick away. But it really is a monster jump between having an organization that's ready to make a run and one that's building towards one.

Gonna take some time to unwind and rebuild everything. Was reading on the Province this morning about how the new management diversified the development group – used to be just 2 people, now it's a whole team of people. I'm sure that will have a positive impact in the long run on whoever they draft.

Something has to give if they want to start fixing the roster. Pearson, Hoglander, Myers etc aren't trade assets that will get you quality upgrades. Garland will.
Horvat, Boeser, Miller, doesn't matter, if any of them can get you quality assets and put the team in a better position to succeed, move any or all of them.
