Provorov need to be paired with a defenseman who is capable of skating the puck out of the d-zone. When he has to do all of the heavy d-zone exit lifting himself, he struggles and the puck seems like a hand grenade. - Quetzalcoatl
most likely why he played better with York. We also when Braun was traded to the Rangers, that Braun had no business on the top pair or probably 2nd pair. Braun is best defending by position, using his body and clearing the zone, not breaking it out of the zone.
Provy deserves his critics, he can not carry a 3rd pair D, but does much better with a puck mover. |

I keep seeing people saying the Flyers don’t have the space to sign JG. I mean they do, but it requires LTIR Ellis and it would have to be for the year. Then the buyout of Lindblom.
The avenue is there, but I don’t know their appetite for it. |

Have to account for the discrepancy in team talent. Reality is that they are very similar as players. - MJL
Also, TAD is inept in positioning in his own Dfensive zone. Ghost is much better. He is actually not as bad as Ghost near the paint. I don't see him getting outmuscled as effortlessly as Ghost.
I see TAD as a much better player.
Also, for the team I think its a stupid move, but as a person, I am personally rooting for the guy, and want him to do well. He went through that Rangers series without issues. He had paid a price and in my personal opinion not just deserves but has earned a 2nd chance. |

I can not believe some of these negative comments. Tony D will be a fan fav on the ice. He will make the pp so much better and some of our forwards will likely score more points than they have in the last couple of years. I am a huge fan of him watching him every game in NY and then Carolina. He oozes offence and yes he has made mistakes but has learned from them. It is all about his passion and fire and he will be loved. I am excited for the team next year. Just get Gaudreau or Kane and we are a different hockey team. Torts was also the right choice, maybe some structure to our game and all players will be accountable, no more leisure club. |

True. Provorov could probably carry a 2nd pairing, but really needs to be in a 1a/1b situation or a #2 on a top pairing. |

A buyout of Lindblom would not make sense. Realistically what they have to do is move JVR and probably another player. The issue is if Ellis isn't ready to start the season but them improves enough to play, during the season. Then they have to make moves to activate him if they don't ahead of time. Farabee also could start the season on LTIR.

Agree on lindblom, we all have beat to death why they should not but they will. Now, just do it right and don’t weaken your position. They have to have the cap if they are going to sign Johnny G, they need to move players, not count on LTIR |

There you go.
And btw, I never stated or suggested that anyone here is riff raff. I said the fan base is increasingly unrepresentative of the city (which is a fact) and if further it acquires a reputation as also having a fraction of riff raff yahoos in attendance, the 'un-representation' part will likely grow to unsustainable levels (which is a speculation aka hypothesis).
Nothing I said had anything whatsoever to do with a guy like you. So stop trying to find imaginary fuel in my words to fire up the rockets of your own complexes.
Later, my man. |

You routinely label people from an elitist point of view. Act like a decent human being and stop judging people. Including claiming others have a complex. There is nothing imaginary. Just a track record of repeatedly judging people with the idea that you think you know them based on what they post. Including using people's personal tragedies against them. Man up and accept responsibility for your statements.

It’s interesting to me to see those on the left, preach something but want to cancel somebody so quickly if they dare disagree.
I’m not talking about the racist stuff, but about the allegiance to Trump.
The price paid to acquire the player was asinine, but I’ll give him a chance. - FlyerFan3260
I think some fans might be surprised how many pro athletes vote Republican, including Trump, simply due to taxes.

So if Ellis does return this means their 3rd pairing RHD will be making a minimum of $5 million regardless of who it is. Doesn’t sound like a cap position that you would intentionally trade yourself into. What’s the overall plan here? |

Fletcher was not going to be caught going into the season with a shortage on defense if Ellis can't return. It's quite clear that they really don't have an overall plan.

In hindsight, it sure looks like CF gave up a lot of draft picks just to end up in pretty much the same place he started. He’s just an awful GM.
DeAngelo made a good impression, on me, in his press conference. I know as a good libtard I’m supposed to hate him, but I kinda liked him. I did a little research to find out why I should hate him, but really couldn’t come up with much; name calling, fighting with a teammate, being a Trump fan, and some dumb Covid opinions. Sounds like he’s sorry about his behavior and trying to keep his opinions to himself. Seems like he was a good boy last year. I like the tough South Philly (really Jersey) kid angle. I like that he’s an aggressive player. Sure he’s a knucklehead, but he’s a pro athlete. I assume most of them are knuckleheads. I don’t really see where he fits into this lineup, but I’m not going to hate on him for it. I’ll leave the hate for Fletcher and Comcast. |

DeAngelo is not better defensively than Gostisbehere in my opinion. I
Give the edge to Gostisbehere there. Although I have seen a lot more of the latter player. They are extremely similar as players. - MJL
DeAngelo plus 30 ( second best on the Hurricanes)
Ghost negative 54.
I just read a report about when he came back from injury and how the pp suffered from his absent but his contributions to the defense was also missed (or something to that effect). Bill even mentioned that this part of his game has improved. Not saying he is a beast in D. Just saying if we are looking at last year to compare Ghost and TDA then the nod goes to the Tony D. |

Any word on the deal yet? Last I heard they were refuting the 2x 5mil deal and that they were still negotiating. |

Carolina vs Arizona...flip the players to the other team and the plus minus would go with them though I have already stated TD is better defensively than Ghost |

Ghost 5v5 goal differential was second worst on the roster for Arz. TDA was the best on his team in this stat.
Lots of other variables when looking at this but to just discount the plus minus due to the team I can understand but in relation to their teammates Tony D was great in this stat where Ghost was dismal.
I also read that Tony’s Corsi numbers were pretty strong. Now I didn’t compare them but I think it was Bill that posted them. Just for those that were stat driven.
Since I didn’t get eyes on DeAngelo or Ghost much this year I have to read from other places. |
