I get the feeling the majority of posters on this board are white and are experts on the subject. “He’s not racist, he’s just an bumhole.” Oh, well that’s a game changer then.
I am black and I’ve heard not so great things about this guy well before he got here, which gives me pause. Now sure, what I heard could be wrong. I’ll cheer no different if he scores a game winning goal. My issue has become less about him (because maybe he is innocent) and more about people brushing the possibly off as if it’s impossible. That in itself is ignorant. - SuperSchennBros
It’s not “oh I heard through the grapevine he thinks this”
This is all documented. He’s garbage.

As I said a 3rd round pick for the level they would deserve. Which is over $1,386,490 to $2,100,742
Even an offer sheet over $2,100,742 to $4,201,488 would only require a 2nd round pick.
I don't think this would happen but just the fact that it could.... - MBFlyerfan
Thanks.. I was not going to the CBA, but my mind still centers on all the crippling compensation for signing higher level players.. Yep these guys would be 2nd round picks compensation at best... |

Tony made his politics my business. Not the other way around. And yeah, when some rich white bumhole from Philly is yelling about Trump nonsense “Build that wall” and what have you, yeah I’m gonna not like you. I live 60 miles from your beautiful wall. (frank) you. My wife is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and Mexican mother.
Tony made it my business to say “you know what? I know all I have to know about this man.”
Nah but I’m a bleeding heart I guess just looking to break down an honest man.
Sell the team immediately. - FloHaake
Now you’re making your politics everyone’s business.
See the slippery slope you’re creating. You don’t have to like his politics, but he’s entitled to them. If he likes Trump then he likes Trump. If you don’t, you don’t.
We don’t need your political woe is me story. |

Boy just imagine if Tony was a black player who was outspoken about Black Lives Matter and also was known to be a bully and an bumhole to teammates up to and including physical altercations.
I’d love to see the “second chance” crowd and what they’d have to say. Especially since his “second chance” came back in juniors lmao. - FloHaake

Considering the boards focus today, If any of you want a really good read about an African Canadian Heritage ice hockey player, read the book Black Ice, about Val James, written by a guy who I used to be friendly with, John Gallagher. John was a federal prosecutor in Philly and another federal district here in PA. It is available on Amazon and other outlets, published in 2015.

A fact is not “most Mexicans support…” that is purely anecdotal and the furthest thing from a majority opinion . Just because a dude at work said “yeah I’m Mexican and I like the wall” doesn’t make it a fact. - FloHaake
is a poll from the Trafalgar group considered a "fact"?

For what it is worth, they actually do not. Both Mexican Americans and Mexicans are overwhelmingly against it. Even in places where other conservative policies are popular: like along the Rio Grande.

Those illegals are taking over buffalo I can attest to that. I mean Ice busted up the best Mexican restaurant around. Cool. Now we no get authentic great food. I mean how dare they work 12 hour days all week long feeding us. Damn it |

How is DeAngelo possibly being a racist a false narrative? Who’s narrative? If his character on race is being questioned and has been questioned for years, why is it being questioned by fans and media at all? I’m seeing Kevin Hayes come to his defense, not Wayne Simmonds, PK Subben, Seth Jones or Evander Kane. I’m not even seeing the player in questioned that DeAngelo bullied come to his defense. Was it K’Andre Miller that young player in question? All I have ever seen is DeAngelo’s father come to his defense/confirm that Tony DeAngelo might be because “that’s how we were raised”…..uhhh…huh?
Someone tell me what narrative is being spun here. - SuperSchennBros
Haha, gotta love his dad coming to his defense and making it so much worse for him.

Busy weekend so just catching up. I feel that as long as he doesn't get into politics or off-ice matters and plays the way he has the past few years, that he will be a great asset to the team. People on here will find any reason they can to complain. Let's see what he does before we judge. Cracks me up that a few are already calling this a horrible move. I'm with you in that we need to have some legit hockey players on this team. And yes, Ghost sucks! Ghost and JVR are my least 2 favorite Flyers in recent memory. - Don Nachbaur
Sure we need some legit hockey players. To get them they should draft them. Not give away draft picks for players like DeAngelo. By the way, DeAngelo and Gostisbehere are basically the same player. So if Gostisbehere sucks, so does DeAngelo.

We’re not racist. We just say racist things.
Do we know if the things he said were racist against black people? All I’ve seen is that he used “homophobic, racist and sexist language” and that he abused officials. Maybe he’s just antisemitic and homophobic? We can all get behind that, right? And refs? Refs are Richards anyway.
*I’m being sarcastic.
Well, except the part about refs. |

goaltending has nothing to do with scoring chances against! I have long tried to explain this to you that this metric in and of itself is pretty useless. The only metrics that matter to me is DeAngelo has had two season with over 50 points and he is only 26 years old, and last season he was a+30! You can't have it both ways. You can't praise Slavin with his +35 and say he is great defensively, but then claim DeAngelo with his +30 was a product of good galtending. - jd250
You referenced GAA. That's goals! LOL. Embarrassing yourself again saying scoring chances against is pretty useless. You cannot explain something that you don't understand.
The goaltending and his partner was the reason why DeAngelo was a +30 along with his offensive ability. Again, he is in the bottom 4% percentile defensively over a 3 year period.
Is this similar to how you were trying to explain to me that signing DeAngelo to a 5M a year deal gained the Flyers 1.5M in cap space? |

Bill just tweeted, “Bobby Brink's non-participation in Dev Camp is injury related. He is dealing with a hip issue that came about in off-season training.”
ASF says it may require surgery. |

huh, but scoring changes against is not misleading?? No one thinks DeAngelo is a defensive stall worth, but still being a +30 is nothing to sneeze at either. DeAngelo is an offensive defenseman that can move the puck and QB the power play; that is what he is. He is also working on becoming a better defensive player. I don't understand why so many people get so entrenched in advanced metrics. The bottom line is Carolina proved last year that you can have the best defensive team in the league and also have an offensive defenseman at the same time. So why is this a problem for the Flyers?? - jd250
Seriously? The lack of logic that you have is monumental. How about the Flyers aren't close to being the best defensive team in the league so a defenseman who is putrid defensively is an issue for them.
