I have been reading your posts. It's a bunch of garbage. That's what I'm driving at as I systematically break down your entire position. All I'm doing is giving you the opportunity to expose your bias and again, you make a claim not backed up by facts that his behavior was bred out of his very luck situation in life. - MJL
He’s not saying his life situation of being “privileged” is the reason he is the way he is.
He’s saying the combination of that “privilege” and his past antics don’t make him hopeful that he can actually change.

MIssed the post where I said I realize that most pro athletes don't share my same views. Ryan Suter is on record saying George W Bush was the best American President.
That's fine, he's wrong. I never felt the need to come on here when the rumors of Suter coming to Philly with "HE THINKS BUSH IS GOOD NO BUSH IS BAD I HATE HIM"
but keep coming at me like it's just politics. - FloHaake
Any thoughts on the Flyers acquiring Evander Kane? Or Patrick Kane? |

I learned today
All NHL hockey parents are rich, hope they are open to adopting a 54 year guy who plays hockey and can cook - wcorvette
Most, if not all, NHL hockey parents probably have some semblance of wealth, considering the salaries of their sons. So yea, i'd say thats accurate.

Seriously? The context is what the parents financial situation is when their son was growing up before becoming an NHL player.

Along with many Flyers fans, no thank you to either player for a myriad of reasons.
Evander Kane is a garbage person. That's already been documented. And can be a distraction to his team. Hasn't punched any teammates tho that I can recall. No thanks..
Patrick Kane is probably very unchill in a lot of ways, but outside of his 2009 arrest for punching a cabbie, hasn't had a ton of controversy and hasn't had a lot of questions remarks surrounding his ability to be a professional and a teammate. The sexual assault charges were proved to be a hoax. Do I want him here? Definitely not, but the dude has kept his nose pretty clean for most of his career. Would certainly be an upgrade leadership and lockeroom wise than Tony D. But nah, don't want either Kane.
Nice try at Gotcha tho Furio. |

Using privilege like that is a group stereotype, which, when applied to condemn group stereotypes like racism, is self-defeating ...

DId you read his post? "ALL NHL HOCKEY PARENTS ARE RICH" which to me sounds like he's talking present tense and not for when they worked their way to it.
Hence my sarcastic response? |

Wow semantics are really something you all quibble about on here.
Fine, he's not "Wrong" in the factual sense, as that would be a hard thing to do when discussing presidential success or failure i guess. Did you read the rest of my post? Where I said I don't care if hes wrong or right about that, I didn't judge him based on his politics, and if he had come here, would've been stoked. |

Sure, they do that too. They also have the resources and means to go for that dream.Which is my point. Which is where privilege comes into play.
OR not. You all work so hard and no one helped you ever and you sacrificed every single thing to build your own storm windows business or whatever. Ok fine. You all have my respect. |

No in the hypothetical, you're assuming they got rich due to their son playing NHL hockey. He obviously was talking within the context.

All should have respect, the world is better that way. My guess, you can look back and find the struggle in generations past for all before they had the resources to support their child to play hockey. |

I’m so glad I came to hockeybuzz to have the DNC pamphlet preached to me like it’s gospel.
The dude is a hockey player. Someone you’ve never met in your life. It seems some people like him and others don’t… shocker. He says dumb crap apparently too. But guess what?! For 2.5 hours every other night, I hope helps the team, that’s supposed to provide me with entertainment, win. I have no other interaction with him other than that whatsoever.
He’s entitled to his politics like it or not and you can’t cancel him no matter how big your hissy fit is right now. Either stop watching the team, or the player, or be a big boy, and suck it up. Those are your options, pick one. But this has been an 8 hour cry fest. We get it, you don’t like him, he’s mean. You’ll be ok little guy. |

Nah, you missed it again. I assume most of them are rich BEFORE they become pros.
That spells out, time and time again.
And guess what? I don't care about that. That doesn't influence my decision to root for a player or not root for a player. Yall just keep refusing to accept the fact that the game of hockey in America is a rich kids sport. And I've loved it my whole life, in spite of that. I don't judge people based on how they grew up, but I can draw a line from how they act as adults to how they were brought up.

As if no family of an NHL player made sacrifices so their son cold play hockey. No Father or Mother of an NHL player ever worked overtime or a second job to support their child's dream. It's just all rich people with privilege.
