As if no family of an NHL player made sacrifices so their son cold play hockey. No Father or Mother of an NHL player ever worked overtime or a second job to support their child's dream. It's just all rich people with privilege. - MJL
Nah, I don't believe I even inferred that. Just that hey, it takes a lot of resources to play this game, and some people take that for granted and become entitled, much like it seems Tony D has. Time will tell like you say, but no where did I say because you had money, there was no sacrifice. |

Nah, you missed it again. I assume most of them are rich BEFORE they become pros.
That spells out, time and time again.
And guess what? I don't care about that. That doesn't influence my decision to root for a player or not root for a player. Yall just keep refusing to accept the fact that the game of hockey in America is a rich kids sport. And I've loved it my whole life, in spite of that. I don't judge people based on how they grew up, but I can draw a line from how they act as adults to how they were brought up. - FloHaake

Yea you got it man. Hes just a meanie. That's the controversy. Very good comprehension from the HIT SUMBUDDY crowd. - FloHaake
Oh I comprehend what you’re doing. You somehow think saying white privilege isn’t a form of racism as you blast TDA for being a racist.
It’s just so typical and it’s why no one is taking you seriously. Now excuse me, I’m going to go spend $300 at the super market and $120 on gas on my way there. |

I’m not sure. Am I allowed to play hockey? I’m white, but not rich. |

Good point after 29 pages of BS about some dude that has not even eaten a cheesesteak yet....
I love this board!
I heard Tony had a copy of Mein Kamph in his nightstand and a picture of Mussilini hanging in his living room.

You know a big reason a player gets to where they are is because they are able to focus solely on hockey, not wheres my next meal gonna come, whos gonna shoot me walking down the street, are my parents on drugs and able to raise me at all
one of the reasons Auston Matthews is good at hockey is because he never had to worry about that kind of thing. That's definition of privilege. He's an incredible athlete, a good teammate and very entertaining player to watch, but the dude grew up in a different world than most of us. I don't dislike him for that. I don't dislike anyone for that.
It's what you do with your opportunities when you get to them, and how you treat others, that's what I judge people on. |

Since nobody can be forgiven for making a mistake, even kids, if you watch Jimmy Kimmel you’re a racist: https://youtu.be/-wse5lgIDxM |

Why Ed Snider? That’s easy. It is for people who can’t afford to play ice hockey. What else would it be? |

How is that different from a non athlete child growing up and going to school? Do you have any specific facts that you can support on Matthews path to the NHL? Or is this another assumption and generalization?
It seems to me that DeAngelo was given an opportunity with Carolina and made the most of it. By all reports he treated others well there.
