They will both have strong offers from contending teams. Why would you gamble on a short term deal in Buffalo? - Lunaion
I don't know why they would, that was the ? would Kane be enough of a draw |

And sometimes winners lose because they "won". We see it all the time on the first day of free agency.
I do find it kind of ironic that - according to Gerbe - one of the reasons Murray wouldn't waive is that he didn't want to help the Sens. His vetoing the trade did more to help them than waiving would have because that trade would have been awful for them.

That is really such an apples vs. oranges comparison because of the difference in positions and leagues. Also, Beane didn't sign those guys before free agency started (which is where Adams is now). It will happen. - Slump Buster
Fair enough. We'll see on Wednesday. |

So who are we really trying to impress? Guys like Campbell and Kadri will be looking for money and term and those are two things we don't want to give out (and surely someone else will). - Slump Buster
Anyone, get it through your head a goalie who might not even start in the NHL said NO. If bringing in Kane helped draw certain players, that would be a good thing, cause as Happy go Lucky as Kevin goes, players don't want to come here. |

Source? The players said no to a trade. The only trade that KA made last year resulted in players that were thrilled to come here (and it pains me to type that because I hate the whole "wants to be here" theme).
Also, for the people that are so obsessed with the fact that KA hasn't yet gotten a goalie (spoiler: the season doesn't start for 3 months), who are we really upset about missing out on? You can throw all of these names in a cup and then pick a name as they are all pretty much the same (e.g. have some kind of warts on them). Because of this fact I have no problem with KA not running out and doing something dumb. I fully expect him to get one of the guys in the cup and it wouldn't surprise me if UPL still put up better numbers than whoever we bring in. |

Murray refusing the deal could’ve had more to do with him seeing Ott paying a huge price to dump his ass, to a team that seemingly wanted the accompanying 1st round draft pick more than they wanted him. |

So now the fans, including myself here; have a closer idea of the real perception of the team throughout the league. Does every player and agent feel the same?. Hell no, that's impossible. Does Gibson' s and Murray's perception represent the majority of players and agents? Who knows factually, but it certainly has some merit as being a significant view.
Now, what does that mean to fans? Why is it relevant?
In the context of fans wanting Adam's to go get players, with "no excuses" considered, the just get it done crowd...the why wait till next year group. Maybe consider the impact of that perception on his timeline for bringing in impact players. Perhaps he knew, like the Bills did back several seasons ago, that they have significant work to do to change that perception and it takes a fair amount heavy lifting and time to do so...and they just aren't done.
So, the same group criticizing Adams' FO team now, is likely the same group of fans who wanted McBeaner gone after year 1 AND who regularly chided the "Trust the Process" mantra that now after significant heavy lifting done over years has the team positioned a a serious Super Bowl Contender.
Chew on that before being so dismissive. It is p,aying out right j front of you but you refuse to see the forest for the trees. - IonSabres

I would think that not qualifying him was the last resort after they couldn't do anything with him

I think the best reason to think that it could be Kuemper is that he has his ring. I don't blame players that haven't won for not wanting to go to teams that aren't already in the championship discussion.

So he chases one last paycheck? He is 32 and is going to want at least a 4 year deal.
I dunno if Adams is willing to go that long

Caps, Toronto, Edmonton and Buffalo are looking for goalies, with Campbell and Kuemper as the best available. On the surface it seems like any one of those other three jobs would be more appealing to a FA than the Sabres |

Is Koskinen an option? He was pretty bad for EDM. So we want him? |

Right, exactly - and I don't for a second feel bad about it. We aren't there yet. Also, free agency starts this week and after the silly spending that happens on those days there is always a fresh wave of players made available when they become cap casualties. |

I think the whole thing is a crap shoot. Just look at all of the goalies that played better after leaving Toronto.
