"When you talk about UFAs, starting on Wednesday, you put your list together, you can't control what the potential ask is, you don't know until that day," Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald said. "I just personally didn't feel like we should wait. I just wanted to really lock the position up, feel comfortable and start getting a good night's sleep."

Hopefully Adams likes to get a good nights sleep, too.

I wonder if he was denied access cause he doesn't have his visa yet. I think certain euros were given an exception to play without one during the pandemic.

It could also be that Russia didn't allow him to leave some countries like Russia require exit visas even though he is Russian he probably needs clearance to leave Russia

It’s the U S not letting him in. He doesn’t have his work visa yet. I heard he tried twice, from different locations (outside of Russia). Idk if he can’t get the work visa until closer to the start of training camp, or if it’s just a matter of waiting on paperwork.

https://www.yahoo.com/spo...ry-service-003159906.html
According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, citing league sources, Kaprizov remains in Russia after he was denied entry to America on two different occasions. Russo explained that the young forward attempted to return to the United States via a Dubai layover, but was not cleared to enter. He then tried gaining entry by way of the Caribbean Islands, but was denied entry once again.
“He couldn’t clear into the U.S., though, perhaps because he doesn’t currently have a work visa despite signing a five-year contract last September,” Russo wrote.

We shall see Power, we shall see. I don't even put that much blame on Adams in that regard. He tried, but right now he's getting b!tch slapped by the past Organizational blunders.

Agree with this, and didn't like are pick at 41, Warren and Luneau were still sitting there.

He gave Leinonen an A++ and called it a brilliant move. Not sure why you like that site. Content aside, 3 short paragraphs and a next button is intolerable.

Buffalo Sabres
Letter Grade: A

First rounders: Matt Savoie, C/W; Noah Oslund, C; Jiri Kulich, C/W

Day 2 picks: Topias Leinonen, G; Viktor Neuchev, LW; Mats Lindgren, D; Vsevolod Komarov, D; Jake Richard, RW; Gustav Karlsson, C; Joel Ratkovic Berndtsson, RW; Linus Sjodin, C.

Analysis: Built on the strength of three first-round picks, the Sabres got a lot more skill into their system. They have legit offensive threats in all three of their first-round selections and were able to add value beneath that. Despite having goaltending depth in their system, they went out and got top-European goalie Topias Leinonen. Additionally, two-way defenseman Mats Lindgren was another player ranked in my Top 100, giving the Sabres five such players. Buffalo has also mined some really good value in recent years with late-round picks out of Sweden and went to that country with each of their last three picks. Buffalo’s grade for this draft was pretty much sealed in the first-round, though. They got a lot better up front with that trio of picks.

I know what he gave, just don't think it's a good pick with who was still available.

It's his opinion, a lot of people gave the Sabres good grades. I don't agree with him on that pick especially with Warren and Luneau still there, but that's my opinion. Just like I didn't like 16, alot of people do.

A++ is nonsense, even if you love the player.

The problem with complaining about this is thag after pick 7 or 8 ….. it was a crapshoot on who would get picked where

It’s basically luck if we hit right.

So getting that deep and winey is for clicks

The point is he did it because of how bad we are and have been. Jesus Christ if he doesn't get traded he might not even be playing in the NHL with Ottawa. This is the last I will bring this up. Losing breeds losing and are fan base has blindly followed me included. I am done giving this team breaks and waiting for next year.

We’ve been bad for a long time now
It’s completely understandable that players don’t wanna come here right now

It hurts in the immediate
But it’s arguable whether or not it actually would’ve been a good move to trade for him

Gibson been on a bad team for a while,
but he hasn’t played well in a few years

I’m not gonna say he’s shot
But it is reasonable to question if he’s still an all-star level goalie

And with 5years left on his deal,
it would obviously be a very risky move

Especially considering it would take good assets to get him

He's willing to do a 2 way contract. I expect he'll spend the year in Roch and as an injury replacement up here. Nice depth piece.

Edit: oh yeah
