I don't necessarily agree with this. Many people here wanted Malkin - I didn't want him because of his age and because I don't want him taking minutes at center that I want the kids to get (not to mention I think he has motivation issues). My concern is what it was with Debrincat - the important part of the timeline is that spot in 3 years when you have to pay our own while still paying Skinner. - Slump Buster
So instead of winning more hockey games by adding a top 50 player ever, we need to make sure Peyton Krebs gets ice time?

Winning a championship matters. Ending the drought does not. Getting a guy like Krebs big minutes in important games gets me closer to contending. Having Malkin play in those minutes does not.
I love what Adams is apparently doing. By having a ton of assets he is setting us up for the next 5 - 7 years (if not more). He is thinking big.

Unfortunately I think that - after the make a move or two this offseason - they will be the favorites to come out of our conference. That's a good team they have there and I suspect that Tampa is going to come down another half-notch.

They're most likely losing their starting goalie... I don't see them getting any better than last year. They need more production from the guys they have to get out of even the first round

While their goaltending was never the problem it was also never something to write home about. I think their bigger issue is defense and secondary scoring. They'll get another guy that will be on par with what Campbell was. I suspect they will flip Nylander for a D and maybe even a goalie.

See my response in the other post. I think they are right there with those other teams and I see Tampa continuing to regress due to age/player loss/playing a ton of games over the last 3 years. While they have become a punchline because of the losses I still think that is a damn good team.
