This is very misleading.

And they are getting rid of the Marleaus and Mrazeks, not the Tavares or Matthews. If it's possible to bring in Kane, you do it.

Because Im worried about his defense?

Not necessarily directed at you, though If you can answer it I'd appreciate it, but I don't understand the staunch defense of this guy. Is it because he was part of the Eichel trade?

Like I get he's got massive upside I don't dispute that but I don't think based on his play so far it's so ridiculous to be worried about his defense in the top 6.

That was the freaking point - they had to pay a king's ransom to get rid of minor contracts. Good managers don't put themselves in that position.

I feel like you've been getting pretty upset at this whole team for not using Krebs to acquire Debrincat and it's just snowballed into an odd manifesto. It doesn't really make a lot of sense.
- TheSabresTaco

Not upset with the team at all. The team, however, is less right now than it was last year. Ottawa and Detroit, on the other hand, are both better. That's not on any player or the coach. I'll be right there game one to watch them score 4 goals and lose. As it stands right now, the GM has done nothing to make the team better this year, indicated he's only going to do the bare minimum, and has a catch phrase that's being turned into an excuse. And, until he says he has an artificially low cap to work with because ownership is cheap, he takes the blame because he thinks all of his own prospects are locks. Fine and dandy, but you just crapped on your fans who still go to games and watch all 82....again. with the fishline out there that you need all that cap space for the studs you have. Other than TT and RD, who both have to repeat their heroics again before they get a raise, nobody on the roster has shown high dollar ability other than $5 mil Vic, $5 mil Samuelsson and a rookie who is years from a payday. Forget one FA, we could easily pay two and trade for a goalie. And we'd still have the #1 prospect pool in the NHL, just maybe not the super #1 anymore.

Big night opening night against Ottawa.

So show me where teams that are in the middle of a build run out to acquire $9 million dollar wingers? Which model is that? I've got nothing but time this afternoon. Hell, Chuck Fletcher didn't even bite on that.

You've now lost whatever credibility you had before. The sword swallowers on this board were predicting a last place finish last year.

Our roster is less than the roster we finished the season with. It's not really arguable.

Scrubs out, Quinn, Paterka and Power (full time) in. UPL in. And more importantly, everyone is a year older and the kids are more accustomed to playing a full season (that clearly caught up with some of them). Which scrubs are we going to miss?

Show me a model of all the success the Sabres have had the last decade and 1/2. Sabres are stocked, sooner or later you have to do something more than draft players. Other teams survive with 2-3-4 players making a 8-9-10mill a year. It is ridiculous with the assets the Sabres had and have that they did nothing, especially with the low offers some of these players got traded for. Good teams find a way.

Who is not on the roster that we finished the season with? And who replaced them and tell me they're worse off?

Holtby might not play this year, 2 supposedly said NO already, rather have Tokarski than Greiss. One has a NSC and doubt Campbell only takes 3yrs

I've probably bored enough of you with my rationale for not wanting to go shopping now. It really does partially come down to enjoyment.

I love watching the kids come up. I loved watching them grow last year and beat Toronto and some of the other teams. The games were extremely entertaining down the stretch and - after years of watching a team / coach / gm that we didn't - I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I think I spent half of the weekend looking at the organizational depth chart. This is also why I don't want the Malkins of the world. Again, just a matter of preference.

Does winning matter? Yes. I get why some of you want to hit the gas. While I don't think it is wise and it isn't what other teams did, that isn't the same thing as saying that we would Murray it.

I want to be good for a good long time. I want to be in a position where at the trade deadline we are dealing from an embarrassment of riches rather than selling future drafts like the Penguins have done for years. That's the fastest way to be set up for a good long time. I want kids waiting for years in Roch to get their shot. I know not all of the kids will work out but we've got so many that the odds are with us. Conversely, there could be a total star or two that we haven't even seen yet.

Scrubs being replaced by rookies. Vinnie wasnt a scrub by sabre standards. Everyone else's team is a year better too. Ottawa and Detroit finished within 2 points of us and are better teams today with meaningful additions. Unless you're a believer in Boston falling off a cliff we're looking at 7th place in the divison.

Yeah, maybe we get lucky and one of these rookies is a game changer. Unless that happens, we're getting WORSE relative to our division.

Ah Christ just get me an NHL goalie with some (frank)ing term and I'd be happy. Oh wait, we cant pay a goalie eaither because Jeff Skinner I guess. What a (frank)ing joke franchise. Cant believe they sucked me back in last season. (frank) you, Jack. That was your fault too.

I absolutely agree. At some point (when your window is open) you sprinkle in vets. This is what Tampa does and this is what Colorado did.

Not sure what your first point was - we did not stock up over the last decade. That's part of what killed the original Eichel teams.

VH and CE both played meaningful minutes to be replaced by rookies. CE minutes were mostly against top lines.

More importantly our goaltending situation is worse than it was last year unless you think CA ages like fine wine.

Until smalltime KA brings in some people we have rookies filling holes and even less goaltending. Thats better?

No we have been stocking since Botts, we were actually well on are way before TM tore it apart. So when would be a good time to start sprinkling, 2-3-4yrs when some of these kids might not be here or don't fit what Granato wants. I really hope these players hit, but they had a chance to make there team better now, without hurting the future.

If JJ or Quinn can't put up the 25 points Vinnie put up last year then this team is royally screwed for the future, both JJ and Quinn were at least a PPG in the AHL last season (including playoffs) and Quinn did not have a good playoffs but JJ did.
