my main profession has restrictions on where I'm allowed to perform work outside of this job. I have to sign disclosures. As long as I follow those rules, I can work anywhere else I want as long as it has no impact on my area.

Which is true for Ben Bishop.

I have to fill out a conflict of interest attestation with my employer on an annual basis. Perhaps the NHL doesn't care, but this certainly seems like a conflict. Strange for sure.

how do people feel about preventing Peterka and/or Quinn from being a full time Sabre next year?
- TheSabresTaco

Who are you blocking them with? If it’s Vinny and EatKids I may have an issue.

Well for folks pounding the table for a top 6 F, look at our forward stable and try to squeeze those guys into the lineup if we sign, say, Marchment. And maybe even a 4C.

What are we trying to gain by doing this?

Well then if Marchment is signed and say JJ is ready to roll Asplund slides down and I don't know Girgensons sits.

I can tell you that Girgensons is not sitting.

This already runs on the assumption that Bjork plays as many games as Bishop.

This is an exercise in examining the group and reasonably fitting in a veteran forward. Unlike the goalie situation, I think you're legitimately blocking one or both of JJP and JQ

The Sabres are still playing Christian Ehrhoff circa $750k a year, and were doing so the 3 years after they bought him out. I don't see much of a difference.

Well JJ looked like he is ready to go by the end of the playoffs. Quinn got pushed around a bit, taken of his game. Be interesting to see what he comes into Camp looking like, did he add a bit of muscle, did he work on his stick work, shot location. Quinn in my mind is a ? mark, he might need a bit more time.

It is funny the collective *we* always say that a kid needs to add muscle if he isn't playing well right away. Quinn didn't have a good playoffs but I think that was more of a result of him being hurt than anything else.

Well, here's what I would surmise. If a top 6 F is added, the org doesn't perceive at least one of them to be ready for a full time role.

Knowing Quinn, I can all but guarantee the kid has been working hard on his strength/mass.

I'm interested to understand this board's thoughts on the future direction you would recommend for Tage if:
A) he regresses back to say 20/17/37, 43% on the dot, and 45%CF with 60% Oz starts.
B) he takes a step back to 27/23/50, 46% on the dot, and 50%CF with 60% Oz starts

What to you offer him $ and Term?
Where does he play?

Side note, he would be 26 to start the '23 season.

Well that's good, that's what he needs to do to take his game to the next level. Why is it we might block someone. Why can't it be we are adding a quality FA to help are team now and hopefully the future. And if that prospect is good enough you find a spot and your Team has gotten that much better.

Interesting. I thought I had read that he was hurt but maybe that wasn't the case. In the playoffs he kind of reminded me of how his tallness used to be: he would have a fair amount of good looks but he kept missing the net.

So far Jeffies game hasn't changed. He's overpaid, but still a threat to score when given opportunity, a pain in the ass for the opponents, and his teammates love him. I bet someone would still give him a 4 year 7M deal. Spotrac has his comparables at a max term deal at 8.5M based upon production so.. All this to say, he's not the worst contract in the league when a German soccer exec isn't in charge.

pronger did it to take a job in the NHL front office

Bishop is being paid by the sabres, and double dipping by working for another NHL club

big difference

- homiedclown

Wonder if he had to get the Sabres "blessing" of some sort. I mean he is on LTIR, basically retired. If he got a job in any other profession wouldn't matter. Just spitballing.

I think the fact that they got him back up and running is amazing. The guy is a definite force in the offensive zone - his brain cramps on D are what keeps him from being worth his full salary. Still thrilled that he is scoring again.

Friedman says the Sabres have been linked to James van Riemsdyk. I wonder what they would need to offer us to take him for his final year.

The Sabres should also keep in mind what happened in 2018 when Mittelstadt was thrown into the lineup because they had no backup plan. Sign a good forward and If JJ and Quinn look great in camp, then one of the Larrys sit out the first couple games until there's an injury.

If Quinn and JJ don't look ready in camp, then at least you're not sitting there going "what do we do now?"
