JVR, Ellis, their first (top 10 protected) for future considerations. Yes No? |

This is an analytical analysis. So if that's an opinion, I guess you're right.
You are willing to put a defensive disaster on a shut down line? - TheSabresTaco
Put him with Asplund and tell him he only has to work 10% of the defensive zone area, sign OG Larry and don't worry about it. |

I don't think that is enough. They would be essentially doing what Toronto just did to move a contract - trade a first for a second. That could only be a handful of spots given that it is Florida's first and the Flyers second. |

Swap Ellis with Sanheim and their first for Florida and we can all bro-five.

Wonder if he had to get the Sabres "blessing" of some sort. I mean he is on LTIR, basically retired. If he got a job in any other profession wouldn't matter. Just spitballing. - SDSabre
I agree if he decided to be a consultant for an NFL team, totally different
hell if he wanted to be a consultant for team usa it's fine
as long as we are paying his NHL salary for 2022-23 season, he should have to wait IMO until the 2022-23 season ends to work for any of the other 31 NHL teams

Fun fact, he's got a twin brother who's playing in what I can tell is the NOSHO.
Also, can he play RHD. |

You're tying one arm behind that line's back. If you're going to play him, get him on the third line with Mitts and Asplund. Go score against weak competition. Get their top 10 1st and revel in the fact they'll still be a high lottery pick in 2024.

This is an opinion. I'm not falling for opinion arguments.
Last time. JVR isn't on a good contract. He's not a terrible NHL player. You just aren't when you are constantly scoring at that clip. He's not well rounded, he's not worth his contract. 3.5M sure. I think he'd have value to a contender at that hit.
BTW, actual cash. 4M on a 7M hit. Fits in nicely on the fourth line already. - SDSabre
Wonder what they would give us to take him on?

That's why I wonder if he had to get Buffalo to sign off first. Which they might have.
Edit: He had a no trade clause. We could have been on it and he could have said no even in a paper transaction. To get him to waive it might have been a stipulation. |

JVR... lol
It's such a low brow move you know it's going to happen. Who is he blocking? It's way more embarrassing to be blocked by JVR than a FA signing. |

The leafs 'needed' murray and ottawa still took a chunk and gave them a decent pick and a 7.
nobody needs jvr. it needs to be more, especially if we're willing to take all 7. |

Yeah I'd be getting my panties in a bunch if JVR gets to get his dumb ass on the ice and make JJP play in Rochester because of it.

It all depends on what the return is, Philly is making this move to make room for Johnny Hockey, they are in it big time on him but he is going to make A LOT of money
If you're getting JVR and say Florida's 1st round in 2024 you do it
You'll end up flipping him at the deadline for at least a 2nd and a prospect to a contender.
Taking on JVR could net you a 1st, 2nd and a prospect
or
JVR and Provorov perhaps? Too bad he is a LHD and not a RHD.
Who knows, JVR only has a year left

Maybe they'd give the Florida pick straight up if they're thirsty enough for Gaudreau. Think you'd have to make that move if you're KA.
Might even be able to flip him for another asset with half retained |
