The timing makes me think they made some cursory calls and found out that basically the image of the team isn't totally rehabbed yet and NTC's are just Buffalo copy and pasted on the central registry.

Alternatively, it might make some sense if contract negotiations with Olofsson have stalled. You could make the argument that Hinostroza's on ice impact will hold given that he did it with a usage much greater than he was used to.

Maybe, but piecing together what others who are connected have said, this one sort of resurfaced as a rumour recently.

I believe they did/still are looking for a middle six upgrade.

I'd be shocked. If they were prepared to give him that, the signing would've been announced in May.

I think this a deal they really want to "win" in terms of AAV to protect against the risk involved in signing him.
