100% spot on. Serious question, does anyone believe that if we had kane on our team that we would have lost to tampa in the ECF? Kane is a proven big game player. He has a conn smythe, and is tied for 3rd all time in playoff gwg and playoff OT goals.
I get wanting to keep all the assets but if it means winning then you have to take the shot. Its no guarantee that these shots happen. Especially with the salary cap. Panarin, zibby and kreider are in their primes now - bonzo11
I hear what you're saying, but that's a dangerous gamble. Just look at the Panthers.
Florida pushed all their chips to the middle, traded their 1st round picks for the next 2 years and put themselves into cap hell and STILL FELL SHORT! Now, they have no cap space and only 10 forwards signed on their roster for the coming season. Other than Lundell and Spencer Knight, their prospect pool is shallow. They significantly shortened their window of opportunity for NOTHING!
I don't want to see the Rangers repeat that mistake! |

Georgi just signed a 3 year deal to stay with the Avalanche for $10.2 mill.
I wish him well... |

Take some time to find me the last team that retained over $5 million in cap space……I’ll wait - nyrangers9479
Not 5 million but close
Giroux - 2022 - 4.14 million retained
Eric stall - 2016 - 4.13 million retained
Taylor hall - 2021 - 4 million retained
So…. It’s possible. |

Do u know what they would want to retain $5 million+? Othmann Cuylle 2023 1st, and that’s just to get the conversation going - nyrangers9479
They can want everyone but if Kane only wants the Rangers they don’t have a leg to stand on
You’re just so stubborn that see you see no pathway to this trade happening.
Debrincat got one first rd pick…would you have believed that before that trade happen? |

That’s for the entire season? Or deals at the deadline. Big difference |

The retainment is the easiest part of the deal. It’s the only way the Rangers can do the deal

Ok TJ say you are the GM, Lord help that team, but anyway, Kane says he isnt going anywhere but NY. Havent we heard that before with MSL and we still lost 2 first round picks??? Ny offers 2nd round picks. Nothing more. Would you trade him or let him sweat it out??? |

Deadline, which wasn’t your initial question. Point is, it’s possible, and can be more possible at 50% even if it happens in 2023 instead of now. |

I totally get why no one would want the trade. Im not gonna insult people for it tho
The only argument is not wanting to pay the assets. But if we’re trading for someone it’s gonna cost us something. I think Kane would cost way less that Miller or Dubois do that’s for sure, because of the vastly different circumstances the players are in currently
This isn’t Kane from 5 years ago when you wouldn’t dare retain or when the Hawks were the best in the league. They are trying to be a doormat on purpose and are practically begging Kane and Towes so waive clauses so they can ship them out of town

136 games played: 52 goals, 132 points, 11gwg (5 in ot) and a conn smythe. We'd be getting one of the top playoff performers of this era. |

There’s been a ton of rational, from the cost to acquire, to having CHI retain more money than any team in the history of the league has ever retained, to us needing to address center before we need to add anymore wingers, I’m not sure we’re participating in the same blog here and having the same discussion |

Im not insulting anyone, but I just find it funny that theres someone could argue that theres zero chance that the Rangers could end up with Kane. |

The problem is when given responses you just shut them down as unrealistic and impossible.
How does acquiring Strome and Kane not adddress center and RW?
Think about what it would cost to acquire Miller or PLD, and now have a new list of areas of need. |

Kane trade:
Kane (50% retained)
For
Kakko
Nemeth (buyout for us)
Reaves (cap dump)
‘23 first rder
‘24 second rder
Only way we can do this deal are with these perimeters
Kupari trade:
Zac Jones and Gauthier for Kupari (maybe we need to add, I’m not sure) but they need LHD
————-
Just showing how it’s possible to get him and still make other moves (added 5.2 of additional salary aswell), most important getting another center. Dylan Strome would be my top pick for a center
You wanna get on the assets going for Kane be my guest, but it can be done so don’t say it can’t 🤷🏻♂️ |

Their argument is its too much for 1yr of someone because they believe we cant resign him. |

Didn't intend to start a war, which has been the case. I would love Kane, as think he is a big time playoff performer. but like anything, that comes at a price and NY's interest level won't really be known for about a week in my opinion, why I wanted to and will touch on this more down the road. Chicago is in punt mode.
The traded DeBrincat, who they had signed for this year and controlled for another year for the 7th and 34th pick. Kane with retention will cost more, but it's a one year not two year rental, which is a factor. The movement of the name will up the price, question is where do you draw the line? |
