Didn't intend to start a war, which has been the case. I would love Kane, as think he is a big time playoff performer. but like anything, that comes at a price and NY's interest level won't really be known for about a week in my opinion, why I wanted to and will touch on this more down the road. Chicago is in punt mode.
The traded DeBrincat, who they had signed for this year and controlled for another year for the 7th and 34th pick. Kane with retention will cost more, but it's a one year not two year rental, which is a factor. The movement of the name will up the price, question is where do you draw the line? - airjan23
It’s not going to cost more Jan if he only wants to play in NY. It’s simple, if the price is to high we pass. He may not even wanna leave there and Chicago may not even want players (they didn’t in the Debrincat trade)
It would guarantee cost us the ‘23 first rder. But we have to be willing to do that for anyone
The key to it would be him extending and extending in the right price range for the Rangers. Where you’re willing to give up assets to get him. And I’m of the opinion money would be secondary to him since he’s coming off 70 million bucks and hed rather pick his new team essentially. If he’s ever imagined himself being a Ranger, he can make it happen as soon as tomorrow.. I hope that’s the case

Their argument is its too much for 1yr of someone because they believe we cant resign him. - aecliptic
Look at Giordano..he could easily make more than 800k if he wanted to. It’s not this impossible thing where guys just want to play for a certain team and don’t care about the money. We can pay him just not something outlandish
3 years x 5 million AAV to play for the NYR right now? Who is turning that down? I reckon no one is |

I cant see Kane resigning for a cent less than 7m and a full NMC. |

The first rounder is the least of the cost, question is what else has to be part of the equation in terms of assets, especially if Chicago is eating salary. Perfect storm would be get Arizona involved to eat additional cap room, but that might be too costly |

Ok so here is where Im siding with Brukie, dude youre on some crazy sh!t if you think Kane is taking 5m per. |
|
|
|
Regarding a Kane trade I'm surprised nobody has mentioned a three way trade. Maybe it has.
Chicago retains 5.25M (I don’t care if no other team has ever done it. They will still GAIN 5.25M in cap space to possibly take on someone else's bad contract with a sweetener) and trades him to team X call it Detroit. Detroit retains 2.62M and sends him to the Rangers. Of course Detroit has to be compensated for facilitating the trade. You get Kane for a year at 2.62M. |

I disagree🤷🏻♂️What I’m saying is, he would take less money with the rangers just to be a part of it
I’m not saying he wouldn’t get massive offers at all
And like i said, I’m only making this trade KNOWING what his next contract is. I need a ball park, or extend him when it’s ok to do that. I’m not making this deal blindly in that regard. If his price is to high then we pass.
This trade is not as complicated as it’s being made out to be. |

We don’t need a 3rd team tho. We can handle the 5.2. And still add around it. The caveat is Nemeth needs to go and Reaves also (which may not happen)
The only crux imo is what his next contact is. It must be reasonable for the rangers to do it |

No he wont, no player of his caliber in the history of sports has ever done that.
At that point, why not just take pennies on the dollar and go to Tampa or Colorado or hell Edmonton to play with McJesus. You cant honestly tell me he wouldnt have a blast in EDM. Why not just get his full money and go play with Zegras, McTavish, etc…? |

Theres only one NYC man. Players specifically want to play here. We have one in Adam Fox. Oh and his besty, ironically, wanted to come here |

Kane's father takes in a lot of games in Chicago, and for whatever reason doesn't fly. So out of respect to that, I surmise that Kane would not waive to go to EDM or out west. BUF NYI or NYR would fit the bill, but he'll want to go for another Cup. Rangers imo would be his ideal destination.

I saw a Hawks fan asking for
Cuylle
Nils
‘23 first rder.
Thoughts?
If you think about it, Cuylle may be the one to go since he’s listed as LW also. He really needs to be RW |

I agree. As a PPG player he'll be looking for at least 8 or 9M.

Idk. Sometimes guys will do the discount. I get it they don’t most of the time. Guys are starting to take less more and more for the good of a team. Pens are doing it right now. Letang could’ve got more don’t we all think? 6.2 looks like a bargain.
And it’s moot because who ever gets him needs to know this is not a rental trade, this trade comes with an extension. Handshake or whatever. It’s to risky a trade not to do that |

Nils I could care less about, I don’t think he’s going to amount to much. I think Cuylle will turn into a very good middle 6 guy. The first I could also care less about, but it’s going to take a lot more than that especially if they’re retaining 50% |

He got the exact money he wanted(4 @ 9) but just spread it out, not really a discount. You want Kane to take similar then you better be offering him all 7 years.

After the Debrincat trade, I wouldn't hazard to guess what Davidson would get for Kane. At one time I thought a Giroux like return would be comparable - 2023 1st, 2023 2nd or 3rd, and a decent prospect. Also as mentioned, if there's a handshake deal in place for an extension maybe the return is more.
On the other hand if Kane waives only for the Rangers, there is no market, no bidding war for him and the Hawks have little leverage since they lose him for nothing in free agency if they keep him.

That 2nd paragraph is the key, until Kane says where he wants to play all this is pointless anyway |

Some guys will lose 500k to 1 million to go to a lower tax state ie: Fla but to come to NY and pay the highest tax rate in the Country, thats a little different. Im betting Kane signs for 8mil per for 4 years possibly 5. He had a 90pt season on a poop team last year. In comparison Panarin never had Kanes numbers yet signed for 11.6 for 7 years.
It all comes down to will Drury bet it all and push all in IF Kane wants to come here. IF the ask is high will Drury do it? If he does and the Rangers dont win the Cup, we suffer a big setback cause we wont be able to resign Kane and will lose those assets and then we will still need that second line Center to go with the wingers we alredy have. |

No matter what, he could pick his team next summer. As far as money goes, this is his last payday. These guys pay a lot out. For example, on a 10 million contract. 10 percent goes to the agent, 30 percent to taxes, union dues and escrow. Added up the player gets about half the dollar amount of the contract. |

Is it to much to ask to trade for Dylan Strome today? The deadline to qualify players is today
Just send them a pick and keep him at 3.6, they don’t want him |
