Kale Clague will not receive a qualifying offer from the Habs. Apparently it's a hockey decision that's been taken a long time ago, and has no relation to that Hockey Canada scandal. |

So...apparently Romanov is still in Russia, and has an offer from the CSKA on the table... - stinger67
Apparently the offer would be for $982,000 a year |

I was just wondering what happens if Romanov decides to play in Russia...
I'm guessing the only thing is the Islanders getting (frank)ed? |

I would guess that the league would investigate to see if Habs knew about that…
If yes, I don’t know….
With NHL cutting ties with KHL, this can become a political situation…. I can see the league forcing the Habs to compensate NY…. (Picks)…. I would see the equivalent of the picks we would have give to offer sheet Dach…(Depending on the salary he will sign with Habs…).
Worst will be losing our 2023 first round pick… |

The Isles would need to prove the Habs acted in bad faith ... might be hard to prove. |

So according to Trege Wilson from the Hockey Writers the only two players the Habs will sent qualifying offers today are Cayden Primeau and Kirby Dach.
It means Rem Pitlick, Michael Pezzetta, Kale Clague, Joel Teasdale, Nate Schnarr, Josh Brook, Corey Schuneman and Samuel Montembeault will become free agents
Of course, the Habs can still sign them but they will no longer hold their rights. |

The Van-City Nuckers did that when they fired Gillis. New management basically dumped a lot of their prospects. |

It would surprise me in the case of Monteenhaut ... we're thin at the goalie position. Unless they know for sure that Price is coming back. |

huh, I thought his ultimate goal was to spend his career in the NHL... perhaps he changed his mind, or was forced to change his mind lol. right now I'd avoid being associated with anything that has to do with Russia, but it ain't my motherland, so I guess I can't fully understand the reasoning if he does take that offer.

and even if he does come back, there's really no way to be 100% sure if he'll be okay to play an extended number of games, seems pretty fragile.

There are. But Ramnov was a RFA so he wouldn't be breaking his contract by signing in the KHL.

You are saying we should not go near russia and the Informer is saying we could lose next season first round pick.
That's panic, yes. |

Except his hypothetical situation where we'd have to lose a first round pick is based on nothing except what he feels would be "fair" compensation.
What are the Islanders going to do? Claim they didn't know he was a RFA and Russian? |

My point is we should wait bebore making scenarios. Unless they put a gun on his head, he won't sign that cheap offer. |
