Someone named TheInformer697041 seems like someone in the know. I trust him.

Kale Clague will not receive a qualifying offer from the Habs. Apparently it's a hockey decision that's been taken a long time ago, and has no relation to that Hockey Canada scandal.

The Van-City Nuckers did that when they fired Gillis. New management basically dumped a lot of their prospects.

Also, with the contract limit at 50, and all the picks they made the last two years, they need to shed some contracts

You are saying we should not go near russia and the Informer is saying we could lose next season first round pick.

That's panic, yes.

- deadpoulet

not really, I was just pointing out that in his situation I wouldn't contemplate any offers from teams in Russia, that's it.

There are. But Ramnov was a RFA so he wouldn't be breaking his contract by signing in the KHL.

Lou Lams dumped half the prospect list too when he came in.

So according to Trege Wilson from the Hockey Writers the only two players the Habs will sent qualifying offers today are Cayden Primeau and Kirby Dach.

It means Rem Pitlick, Michael Pezzetta, Kale Clague, Joel Teasdale, Nate Schnarr, Josh Brook, Corey Schuneman and Samuel Montembeault will become free agents

Of course, the Habs can still sign them but they will no longer hold their rights.

- stinger67

It's a little surprising for Pitlick, Schuneman (although I was never that big a fan) and Montembeault.

But as you said in a later post, with have plenty of guys looking to get contracts and we can't keep everyone. Might as well focus on the ones we think can become regular contributors.

Wouldn't be shocked to see us sign at least one of them at a lower salary than their QA.

Ok, I read that as Habs should not go near russia.

Then the Informer is only one in panic mode.

Except his hypothetical situation where we'd have to lose a first round pick is based on nothing except what he feels would be "fair" compensation.

What are the Islanders going to do? Claim they didn't know he was a RFA and Russian?

- Scabeh

they'll try to pull a Dadonov and blame the habs for not sharing all of Romanov's contractual information.

It'll be interesting to see if Dach has recovered fully from the wrist injury and if that was the real issue and not just sophomore slump/not the best skating.

I highly doubt they can prove Romanov had agreed or signed anything before the trade or that the Habs knew about it.

I'm not even worried.

He's actually not that slow.

But yeah, he's not been the same since the wrist injury. Hughes said they informed themselves well before trading for him, I hope their information was correct.

what's been different, his shot is weaker? or he doesn't get involved physically as he used to..?

Well he was never a big goal scorer but his current situation is ridiculous.

He's one of the worst finishers in the NHL, terrible in the faceoff dot (despite Yannick Perreault's tutelage no less) and his shot percentage is quite low.

Despite being 6"4, he's not overly physical either.

Now maybe another setting will help and he's only 21 so the hope he improves remains, but he was playing with Patrick Kane or Debrincat for a while and didn't put up big numbers.... so we'll have to be patient imo.
