Except his hypothetical situation where we'd have to lose a first round pick is based on nothing except what he feels would be "fair" compensation.

What are the Islanders going to do? Claim they didn't know he was a RFA and Russian?

- Scabeh

You trade for a UFA/RFA, there is always a chance you lose out on them playing for you. Of course, the NYI still own his rights.

If the NYI did not do their due diligence, then quite frankly, that is their stupidity.

Not sure how you trade for a guy and just expect him to play for you, if he does not have an actual contract.

The scenery for season 3 looks amazing so far.

It's a little surprising for Pitlick, Schuneman (although I was never that big a fan) and Montembeault.

But as you said in a later post, with have plenty of guys looking to get contracts and we can't keep everyone. Might as well focus on the ones we think can become regular contributors.

Wouldn't be shocked to see us sign at least one of them at a lower salary than their QA.

- Scabeh

I think he is a decent stop gap defencemen, as a 6-7... I'd rather have him on the team playing that role than a kid sitting in the press box most nights, when he could be learning more playing in Laval.

But we will see what happens.

Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract extension with defenseman Corey Schueneman.

Both Stromes on the Canadiens Radar.

There is no doubt that the Canadiens are still heavy in the market to add a top 6 center..Either Ryan and Dylan Strome could help get them there..

All your Strome and Pitlik are belong to us.

It has nothing to do with Price's health, but more someone willing to significantly over pay for Allen IMO.

Habs can fill the net with whatevers next season, they are not winning anything with or without Allen.... while I;d rather Have Allen's vet presence between the pipes for some stability, would not take much to convince me otherwise.

If anyone wants to give us a good prospect or a first rounder, trading Allen is no brainer imo.

He's getting traded by the deadline anyway.

Well, if someone is ready to give us a young promising RD for Allen, I wouldn't say no either.

Meanwhile, in Edmonton ... doesn't seem like Kane and the Oilers can reach a deal.

- RDS

I don't know but teams with that kind of available cap space must be few and far between. I certainly wouldn't "invest" into Kane long term, he has moved quite a lot in his career. His reputation precedes him ...
