Exactly & besides he hasn’t been as consistent as Gaudreau & is dreaming if he think he’s getting up to 10m.
- Nighthawk

Market dictates what players get, at UFA those prices are HEAVILY inflated, market dictates that players that score a 100 point season of the equivalent get 9-10+ mil contracts. See Tavares, Matthews, McDavid, Draisaitl, et. al.

I’m not sure who’s who anymore. I feel like some of the haters are slurping a bit and some of the slurpers are hating a bit. It’s very Canuck though.

Ya I was already thinking that. Not until recently have I seen a variety of different opinions come out of the Clique but even that Lemming Train is disrupted.

I don't know if I'm a hater or slurper, but even I can see that this core isn't good enough and needs massive changes, the fact that BB got us to play good enough hockey to be a playoff bubble team didn't change that opinion. All he did was get us to exactly where pundits thought we'd be at season's end, a bubble team that unless everything went right and several core players (not just Hughes and Miller) had huge career years. The D core hasn't been addressed, we retained Boeser for a decent contract but ignored the elephant in the room by not trading Miller (whatever the reasons) either at last TDL or now at the draft and chances are we're stuck with him until at least TDL with his value dropping faster than a rock in the Marianas trench. We have OEL and Myers who are taking up 14 mil of mostly dead cap space for what they do. The rest of the D other than Hughes are interchangeable spare parts that shouldn't be counted on save for bodies to fill out the roster. Nothing's really changed on that front, and with too little cap space, I don't see that changing at UFA.

I'm definitely not a slurper, more apathetic. I'm impatient with the new regime. Fixing the D is huge, and like you said it's tough with limited cap space. This is a huge summer for the team failure is not an option. Miller is one player, deal with him and don't leave anything on the table. Stay out of the UFA market, it's a recipe for overpayment. Players out players in. Time for this new management group to show us what they've got.

RHD that can play good top 4mins the forever search goes on lol

Big ask but goes a long ways building a perennial PO team before becoming contender status.

Your binary is too simplistic, life and hockey are both a bit more sophisticated than this. You slurper

Yes supply/demand dictates.
Inflated UFA prices nearly always.
Contenders without cap space or go where the money is Millers likely choice.

So what does he want more top $ or winning a cup? Imo he’ll have to compromise if about winning. Top $ is where for a team that has the cap & close to the cup?

I was just trying to make it easy. Like I said, I think there’s quite a bit of crossover now. I’m a bit of both.

I read that. It’s too vague & lacks some chronology. Was a serious offer on the table then the request to talk to Miller or talk 1st? With LL I don’t trust him but I do agree with him not leaking discussions.

More Lou stuff...

According to the league source Kurz spoke with JT Miller is a "Lou’s type of player."

Kurz goes onto say if Islanders are going after Miller another reason would be to try and keep him away from the Rangers and Devils.

I still think it's early. There's no quick fix or instant gratification to be had. Decisions need to be measured and calculated because, as you mentioned, the margin for error has been taken by the previous regime.

We are also at a point where most teams are wading through their own post draft and free agency issues before making decisions. It could very well be things that have been left on the back burner make their way to the front rather quickly as every team sorts through it's priorities.
