I love when Ek has these rumors, like last week's Chcirun (or whatever) to Blue Jackets and brings it up to the panel on the Buzzcast, they usually couldn't disagree more. It's pretty embarrassing.

more Kane BS. Sure...the cap strapped champs are going to take Kane. Who says Kane is unhappy? How do you know?
BTW if Kane does waive NMC...I doubt the Hawks are going to send him to a division rival and the Aves may not have what the hawks want. - bogiedoc
If it makes sense for the two teams to do a Kane swap they both will make it. They won't be competing with each other for another 5 years anyway. Colorado actually stands to risk more, sending valuable young assets they may need to contend with after Kane has left via UFA or aged out of his prime.
Hey Eck, why don't you check on your information, Makar signed an 6yr $9M contract before this past season. The Av's did it real quick because he was a RFA and Armstrong of the Blues was considering offering him 7 years, $10.25M contract because he knew, Colorado could not match it with their cap!
MacKinnon is making 6.3M and is a UFA after this year. Is he going to get McDavid(12.5M), Matthews (11.6M) or Panarin (11.6M) money? The cap isnt going up that much next yr. They only have 3 forwards signed beyond this year. But they are set in goal and on D. Kane is 33 years old. Would they take on 10.5M this year and then offer a longer term contract? - i'mjustafan
Most likely. High 11s, low 12s. Might not go up much next year, but in the long term it is, and top players cash in when they’re at bat.
Players get one huge shot at the honey pot in their prime. Sometimes 2 if they play the years right. He’s looking to set up his family with generational wealth. It’ll be his turn.
You don’t take a 1 year deal and lose the opportunity in case of injury or a down season except for special circumstances. It’s not wise, and he doesn’t need a ‘prove it’ year. He did that already.
I can’t understand how the Avs didn’t figure out McKinnon’s contract first. Gotta figure out that money first. Sure. Drop some salary that expires after this year but ever Eric Johnson is going to need a backfill and any decent D-man is going to cost $3 million or more.
Agree with Nate the Great and then we know what the future could look like. Given the other contracts, it ain’t Kane.
