i would think they had a honest conversation with him before hiring him. it was pretty apparent what was going to happen once they traded hagel.

i am more pissed at the return for cat than the actual trading of him. they did him a favor at this point.

and yeah Richardson surely knew what he was getting into, even in that context it would've been silly for him to pass on an opportunity to be head coach in the NHL.
