yeah I know, Hughes still has some salary cap cleaning to do, and we can't expect him to address everything all at once... his tenure is looking promising so far though, gotta appreciate what has been done and the direction he's trying to take with the team. - Pat1993
Next summer will be a make-or-break year, with some contracts coming off the books, some space, and we will get to see how some of the younger guys look.
Drouin, Dadonov, Byron come off the books, and maybe Hoffman has a decent enough season that someone will bite on 1-year left.
No point in wasting future cap space buying guys out now.... as much as I would love to see it.
EDIT: And Price will be in a wheel chair full time. |

Yeah, he seems to have a clearly defined long term plan unlike Bergy who would wing it on the fly.
Molson probably grilled him on his plan before hiring him ... the previous administration couldn't develop players properly and had to resort to expensive trades to dress an NHL worthy team. - Garfield512
the habs are among the league's wealthiest teams, yet they didn't even have an analytics department, so yeah if Molson truly wants to win there are a few additional investments he could make, especially since these have no bearing at all on the cap. I think Hughes and Gorton will help him build something nice. |

My Vette’s in gramps, next week, ordered it quite some time ago.
She’s a beauty, Him and I chatted about it.
I guess he doesn’t need a pm now.

The Montreal Canadiens have hired Christopher Boucher as their director of hockey analytics, the team announced on Friday. The news was first reported by Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic. Boucher was most recently a pro scout with the San Jose Sharks, where he spent the last two seasons. (May 13, 2022)

ugh, I'm already loathing his damn "mysterious health status" throughout the whole season, but I know it's basically inevitable that they resort to that poop again.

yeah I know, it's a nice start
I'm pretty sure there's gonna be more organizational changes and hirings concerning scouting and player development in the near future. |

IF the Habs were a contending team, I would kinda be frustrated. But they are not - with or without a healthy Price - this team is pretty poop/bottom 5.
Give him all the time he needs to realize it is game over, let him go out feeling like he gave it his best, but just did not have it anymore.
Really has no impact on the team right now. |

Yeah, likely see more moves after the UFA window this week... draft done, front office work has mostly been done. people will be free to move on, if they wish.

Maybe he meant Yvette, a half French-Asian "Nanny" to watch the kids... that are all grown up and out of the house.
Also.
Any pics.

Agreed ... his fatal flaw was to base the whole team strategy around Carey Price, the only bonafide star we had.
He neglected strenghtening our center line for a decade with the results that can be expected with such a fundamental team weakness.
His poor drafting and development really put him behind the eight ball and he was forced to get (expensive) players from outside the organization ... you can do this for a while but it catches up to you after a while.
His firing was way overdue and now Hughes is forced to clean up the contracts mess he left behind.
