You mean the leisurely skate up and down the ice with no D and nonchalant goaltending? - kfinl170
That’s right lol You don’t like Giroux’s skill set? He’s a smart guy and it’s a no brainer to get a guy like him for a low price (if possible)! |

He’s a good player, not saying he’s not. I just wouldn’t use the all star game as a litmus test for chemistry lol |

Hextall has close ties to Giroux, could be a thing. Now I'd rather have Geno back but who knows what's going on. - 668710

Giroux had a nice thing going on the ice with Guentzel in the ASG. I’d love to play both with Sid.
The only way to ease the burden with Geno leaving is if we sign Giroux AND Trochek. - Barnaby36
Yea that's basically what I was saying without putting names out there. I think Rakell is an awesome player however if Geno isn't coming back Zucker needs replaced with a better player if the center is gonna be a lesser talent. |

Damn Johnny G testing FA, surprised he’d turn down that (reported offer) from Calgary. I’m assuming he’s ending up in the metro (PHI, NJD, NYI). |

Teams I expect to be aggressive for Malkin: MIN, CGY, DET, WSH and OTT |

I haven't checked but does Minnesota have the space? Aren't they getting (frank)ed hard with the Parise Suter buyout this season? Like 15mil something like that |

No, but they just dumped some salary and I could see them trying to move more.

Ok so this season it's 12.7 and then the next 2 seasons it's 14.7, my god. They only have 4.3 in space. That ain't getting them Geno haha. They are in rough ass shape these next three years. |

This is crazy stupid. And both players are still playing in the NHL. |

i dont think 3 is unfair for pettersson at all. hes not great, but hes not bad by any means. and hes still young. not that hes improving, but its not as though hes a threat to fall off a cliff in his mid 30s. you would hope they can move him without taking anything back but its always tough to find someone with that kind of space.
i would love them to move dumo, but i question whether they would even want to.
moving marino should definitely not be the type of move just to clear cap with no follow up plan to put into place. so naturally they'll probably do that route - stayinthefnnet
I could still see Pettersson improving a little. Many defensemen say the game slows down around the 300 game mark and one of Pettersson's bigger weaknesses has always been his slow decision making.
However, at that point he goes from an ok 4th D who doesn't excell on special teams to maybe a good #4 that's actually worth 4M? It's just hard to see anyone wanting to trade for that when everyone is trying to save salary.
Have to wonder if the see Dumo differently then we do, particularly because he is considered one of their leaders. |

ERod to explore the FA market. - Rinosaur
Had heard that earlier. I would have preferred they gave him Kapanen's spot. They'll miss that versatility. Don't appear to have a guy like that who can move up all over the lineup right now when the inevitable injuries hit. |

Also you have to explore a better LW if Geno isn't coming back IMO. And that would come in the form of moving a LD or Zucker. - 668710
Zucker and Geno were bad together. Watch Zucker stay healthy and have a good year (in a contract year) with a new center.
I think he similar to Pettersson is a tough sell. Maybe someone with left over cap space after free agency takes a flier because he only has one year, but by then everyone else will be gone. |

Besides Talbot? It seems they just traded him because he publicly complained about them bringing back Fleury. It's not a bad fit if they could make it work though. |

Guerin didn't give a poop about Talbot's situation. He made that publicly clear. He's clearly, at least IMO, trying to free up space to be active in FA.

I'm just curious to see what teams throw at him. If he gets north of $3M then good riddens.

He has been surprisingly great. He needs to go out and get paid though. I think someone offers him a few years at $3-3.5M but if not I could totally see him and the Pens circling back on a deal. |

Agree, 3M is about the most I'd give him. Want him back, but beyond that it's folly. |

Again, I am not sure Kapanen is a Pen next season, QO or not.
Heinen and Rodrigues priced themselves out of here, and that’s ok. They gave us more than than we could have expected. |

Yea if Geno is signed we're gonna see what that line looks like with Rakell on the other wing. I thought Zucker played like an animal this playoffs. He's just been injured basically the whole time he's been here. |

You see Burke's comments on Kapanen today. Could be smoke, but sounded like he expected him on the Pens next year. |
