I know that this process was super frustrating but getting Letang and Malkin in at 6.1, Rust at 5.125, and bringing back Rakell is a really good offseason for Hex/Burke. If they can bring in another big ticket forward I’ll have no notes.

Actually though. I'm guessing it was his agent pulling the BS and Geno realizing it was making him sound stupid.

I had mentally moved on from him already but if you would have told me we could get Geno and Letang signed for $12.2M , I'd have laughed at you. I was expecting at least $15M.

After signing Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins are currently projected to have $3,383,158 in cap space with 11 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders under contract.

I think a 3rd line forward (Kapanen) and a 12/13 guy around league minimum are in order, but unless there is a salary dump, the roster looks pretty close:

If he can move a D, It will be a tremendous offseason. Letang, Geno and Rust all took a bit of a discount. Getting 3 guys to take discounts is pretty amazing work.

Yeah I mean the Malkin thing almost went super poorly, but it didn’t and that’s all that matters. I am perfectly happy with what the FO has managed up through now.

Amazing how with one bargain Geno signing Hextall goes from idiot to great off-season in all our minds. If nothing else, he did a fantastic job of cap management in bringing all these guys back.
