Not really. I thought the Devils would announce his signing at 12:01. Didn't think we had a chance at JG. Now that it's been almost 5 hours, thoughts have crept in. Like, maybe he agreed in principle and won't sign until cap space is created. Also, Lou being Lou, maybe he's working on a trade or 2 to free up that space and won't announce the signing so he doesn't lose leverage. Stupid brain starting to think we might have a real shot at landing him.

New rumor is that Philly has dropped out of JG pursuit and Lou is shopping Beauvil hard.

Interestingly, same total ($84m) as what I reported was on the table in Calgary.

That's a cap killer going forward but the jackets suck and so does Columbus as a city. He could have been a devil anytime today so maybe this works in our favor

I don’t think you have to worry about that. Lameriello isn’t paying him 12 million. I doubt he’s going there if he’s looking to be close to family.

You have to think if he were signing with devils it would be done already. Lameriello has at least prevented that from happening for the time being. Possible scenario is Lou is looking for landing spots for whatever salary he’s shipping out to make space for Gaudreau and doesn’t want that to cause him to get excessively bent over in the process. Possible.

OR Gaudreau is just thinking about it. I don’t like this theory
