Jarmo just picked everyone’s pockets
I would really like to know what we offered if his salary is 9.8? - Cptmjl
I'm not sure we'll find out. It wouldn't be like Lou to tell everyone. |

Hot take, not really that upset about this. Happier he went there than Jersey. I would (frank)ing love Laine. - potvin05

#CBJ say signing of Johnny Gaudreau does not preclude them from signing Patrik Laine, who is currently an RFA. They can keep them both, but other moves are now necessary. |

Friedman is saying 7 years at a 9.8 aav. If that’s the case what in the actual (frank) is right? What was Lou offering to begin with? - Cptmjl
This is unreal. Really no words. |

Can also confirm that Calgary’s last offer to Johnny Gaudreau was 8 years x $10.5 M AAV.
So as expected the star UFA leaves money on the table to go East.
Although still a nice deal with Columbus obviously.

He learned negotiations from Snow. A half drank coke and 3 broken yo-yos. |

Probably not but I can’t imagine a reason he would want to go to Columbus? If it were purely to be in the east and be “closer” to his family we weren’t willing to match that? What were we expecting to pay for him? Doesn’t make sense. |

I actually like the idea of having Kadri but he’s not at the same level. Not even close. |

Well that leaves Kadri, who would hopefully cost a lot less if Gaudreau is only worth $9.8M AAV. Not thrilled with the idea of signing him until he's 39 though.
I'll continue to be patient but now our options are: pay a premium for Kadri or ship out valuable assets for someone like Tarasenko (and then have to pay a premium anyway)
Not the start anyone wanted to see this offseason |

31 coming off a career year he won’t be worth what he is gonna get. I’d pass unless he came cheap which isn’t happening |

I take this with a large grain of salt because I don't fully trust that this guy is connected, but:

Was told earlier the #isles upped their $9M AAV offer, just didn't get a clear number. Couldn't have been much more than that. |

Not sure how much of an appetite the Islanders had to go too far north of $9M AAV on a 7-year deal for Gaudreau... which leaves them sitting at the sweet table with an empty plate.
Pagnotta more or less says the same. If they lost out on Gaudreau over 800k....that's pathetic |
